lybrate-user, A strict diet can be beneficial only when blood glucose is fairly well in control with appropriate drugs. From the information it is clear that current treatment is not at all helpful to you. Ideally when in control fasting glucose should be closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c%<6.8. If these levels are not achieved and maintained, then one is inviting serious long term complications related to multiple organs in the body. There needs to be a total relook at the present treat...more

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
Dental surgeon will only work on you if blood glucose is below 200 mg (PP). Otherwise, there is a chance of infection. So it is necessary for you to achieve that level. The options open are to increase Insulin dosage by 2 units in the morning and by 4 units in the night. Or plan a strict dietary change so that low glucose is maintained. Plus increase the level of exercise. Orelse, there is also another option of using SGLT - 2 Inhibitor for better cont...more

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
Fasting glucose is very hig, but HbA1c% is in fairly good level. Ideally FBG should be < 100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8. Since there is no mention about extent of exercise being done and the diet being taken, it is difficult to comment. Instead of adding any more medication a better diet control and reduction of weight should help. Your weight should be 67 kgs, so a reduction of 8 to 10 kgs will bring down blood glucose to desired levels. Than...more

If she is taking all the medicines regularly and following dietary precautions and regular exercise, her insulin will need to be altered. Another type of insulin seems suitable at this stage. you will have to meet a diabetologist and discuss regarding this.

May be you need to alter your diet- reduce simple carbohydrates replace it by complex fiber base carbohydrate like fruits, vegetable parathas or fiber base protein like vegetable dals or sprouts. Reduce oil consumption less than 3 teaspoons per day.
May weight reduction also help you. If no improvement within 1 month then you may need change of medicine if your hba1c more than 8%
