Considering her approximate age and duration of diabetes, it seems more like type 2 rather than t1. If such is the case, she also needs to be on insulin sensitizers which are oral medicines. Also, actrapid alone will never cover her basal glucose production, so she also needs to be on intermediate acting insulin.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. You have given the glucose level as 170 /250 mg, do you mean to say fasting is 170 mg & pp is 250 mg? Is that so? What is the hba1c%? It is important to know that, because it gives a long term view of glucose control. To give any advise I need to know hba1c%, exact fbg & pp levels, serum creatinine, urea, dietary pattern & extent of daily exercise. Hi
If you are on insulin from a very long period it is not advisable to suddenly stop it. This can shoot your blood sugars. You can be slowly taken off insulin with addition of oral diabetic medications if you are a type 2 diabetic. I need further information as in your exercise pattern, diet, latest blood tests, HbA1C report to decide on the oral medications.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
The doctor treating him should be able to arrange the Insulin pen for that particular insulin. Usually the company executive supplying the instrument will come and teach the patient how to use the device. So please contact the concerned doctor. Or through the chemist supplying the medicine, you can get in touch with the company person. Thanks.
