I have a fatty liver with 16.9 cm size. Is it safe to conceive? Would their be any complications or risks?
Hi dear it can be safe to become pregnant if you have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) if you do not have significant scar tissue in your liver. NAFLD is a condition in which excess fat builds up in the liver in people who drink little or no alcohol (indicating that alcohol is not responsible for the disease). Some people have liver swelling and scarring in addition to excess fat in their liver, a condition called nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, or NASH. Pregnancy may be more risky for women who have NASH. You may need to work closely with your obstetrician/gynecologist as well as your hepatologist (liver specialist) regarding the safety and timing of your pregnancy. Your doctor (s) may want to monitor you especially closely if you do become pregnant to make sure that your liver is functioning properly and that you and your baby are as healthy as possible. Fatty liver is a common condition of the liver due to modern life-style, food, and drink habits. Collection of fats in liver cells is called fatty liver. This condition is also called steatosis hepatis or steatorrhoeic hepatosis. Fatty liver by itself though abnormal, is a relatively harmless condition. Liver is the largest organ in the human body. It plays a vital role in keeping the biochemical balance intact. Why fatty liver occurs, is unknown. A fatty diet or overeating by itself never results in a fatty liver. The fat may come from increased absorption from the intestines or from elsewhere in the body. But, putting it generally, the liver loses its capacity to eliminate fats deposited within it. Yet, 70% of persons suffering from NASH are found to be obese. Homeopathy addresses the underlying causes behind fatty liver, improves liver functions and reduces the symptoms as well as modifies the disease process. Fatty liver is partly reversible condition if treated in the early stages. In later stages, it can help to improve the liver functions. Well chosen homeopathic medicines can help control and reduce Fatty liver disease. Homeopathy is recommended for cases of Fatty Liver. A homeopathic constitutional treatment will give you best results naturally You can easily take an online consultation for further treatment guidance and permanent cure without any side effects Medicines will reach you via courier services.

Common Food Allergens - Know What You Can Substitute It With!

Food allergies have been on the rise and many food items have been identified as potential allergens. Common items like citrus fruits, coconut, peanuts, tree nuts, gluten can cause allergies. You don't need to stay away from your favorite dish just because it contains one of the allergy-causing ingredients.

You can customize your dish with suitable substitutions and enjoy your food without worrying.

  • Peanut - Peanut is one of the most common allergy-causing items. It has severe effects on people who are allergic to it. On its consumption, the throat of allergic person swells up, blocking the airways which can lead to anaphylaxis. So, for people who are allergic to this grain legume, peanut -laden cuisines like Thai food, peanut butter, and jelly are all prohibited. But you can replace peanut with sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, and hemp which are available in butter form as well.
  • Citrus fruits - Lime, orange, lemon, and grapefruit have been seen to cause discomfort in both adolescents and adults. There are so many citrus-flavored drinks that it becomes difficult to find a nice harmless drink. But, if you are allergic to these fruits you can go for strawberry, raspberry, and apple-flavored drinks, which are easily available.
  • Coconut - Coconut is used in place of milk in vegan recipes; it can replace milk in food items like ice cream, sweet drinks, and curries. If you are allergic to coconut, substitute it with rice, soy, oats milk and even soaked cashews.
  • Wheat - Wheat is not only off limits to people with celiac disease who have to lead a gluten free life but for some who are allergic to wheat specifically. Pasta, bread and many other kinds of foods are made up of wheat, but you can opt for tapioca or rice flour which is also used to make such items.

3 Ways To Treat Ovarian Cysts!

3 Ways To Treat Ovarian Cysts!

Ovarian cysts are a common development in many women. Cysts are sacs filled with fluid which are formed in the female ovaries. Most cysts are harmless and do not even show any symptoms. However, some cysts do show outward symptoms like heavy bleeding, clotting, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain during the menstrual cycle, and pain during sex.

If you feel any of the above-mentioned discomforts, it will be in your best interest to consult a gynaecologist and get a check-up done. Most cysts are manageable unless they are very severe. In fact, it is best that cysts come to light at the right time and are efficiently managed, unless they develop into severe issues in the future.

Management of cysts

  1. Oftentimes, medical practitioners resort to what is called ‘watchful waiting’.
  2. At times, ovarian cysts disappear in a few months.
  3. It is recommended to take a blood test and an ultrasound to see the progress of the cyst.
  4. If you have already experienced menopause, then these tests are carried out every four months. This is because in such cases the risk of an ovarian cancer is at its highest and regular monitoring of the cyst is necessary.

Treatment of cysts
Ovarian cysts can be treated in their earlier stages. Here are some of the most popular treatments.

  1. Laparoscopy is one of the most popular treatments. It is a surgery carried out under general anaesthesia. The tummy is cut to a radius of a key hole and a laparoscope is inserted. This helps the doctor to see the internal organs, which is then used to remove the cyst. This method is less painful and has a quick recovery time.
  2. Laparotomy is the other method used for removing a cyst. In case the cyst is large, then one single large hole is made in the body to access the cyst. At times, the cyst and the ovaries are removed and sent for further laboratory inspection. This inspection is done to detect whether the samples are cancerous or not. This procedure is more complex than the previous one and might need the patient to stay in the hospital for a few days.
  3. In case you have a cancerous cyst, then your reproductive part itself would have to be removed rendering you barren for your life.

Ovarian cyst is very much treatable and is best to be detected at an earlier stage for better and faster treatment. Thus, it is best to go for regular check-ups and report in case of any disturbing symptoms.

Shortness Of Breath - Should I Be Worried?

MD PULMONARY, DTCD

Shortness Of Breath - Should I Be Worried?

When you experience shortness of breath for no reason, you might wonder if there is something to worry. Breathing difficulty (dyspnea) affects around 1 in every 10 adults. The causes are varied, and just like other health problems like dizziness, fatigue, and abdominal pain, shortness of breath too has several causes. While a few are harmless, a few may be the signs of a possible complication. Though a common complaint in adults, it is a tough diagnostic challenge. Being aware of the symptoms will take you a step further in deciding whether or not the breathing difficulty is a cause of concern.

Causes

  • In older people: If you are an older person, then your breathing problems will most likely be associated with a heart or lung disease such as COPD, pneumonia, and heart failure. Other causes include a stroke and cancer. It is advised to consult a doctor if you are experiencing serious breathing problems since the past few days and more so if you see other symptoms. Symptoms to worry about are pain or trouble staying upright.
  • In the young: The common causes of shortness of breath in younger people are usually minor and partially treatable. Shortness of breath may occur due to myofascial pain syndrome. This is a condition in which trigger points or muscle knots occur in the respiratory muscles. Other causes are pneumonia and bad respiratory habits and/or weak breathing muscles.
  • Stress can be the cause: Another common cause of shortness of breath in teenagers and working professionals is anxiety. This is a very significant cause and should be taken seriously because this may not necessarily be a minor problem. Its diagnosis is still reassuring when compared to other medical problems since this can be worked upon with a few techniques.

Should you worry or not?

  • When the breathing difficulty is caused due to an acute condition like pneumonia or a chronic condition like asthma, treating the cause is imperative. Because, when the cause is treated, the episodes of shortness of breath is reduced.
  • Any patient suffering from any one or more of the problems mentioned above can still take a sigh of relief as remedies are available. Various pressure point massages can be performed with proper technique to ease out the trigger points when you are suffering from muscle knots.
  • When it comes to bad breathing habits, old habits die hard. Although changing your bad breathing habits may seem frustrating at first, it is relatively easier to achieve this if taken up with the mentality of achieving a goal. If regular breathing exercises are performed, respiratory strength can be increased. Moreover, breathing correctly has many long-term benefits as well.
  • Anxiety is more of a mind over body kind of thing. Although it may seem tough to overcome, determined and head strong people can find relief if they try.

Ensuring safety first
If you are wondering about whether your condition is serious or not, it is advised to tell your doctor about any persisting symptom. If you have developed any new symptoms such as a chronic wheeze or a cough, fatigue and pale appearance, dry, painful cough and shortness of breath during physical activity, then these are slow and sneaky indicators of an onset of some serious medical problem.

Thus, breathing difficulty occurring often is a reason to worry, and you must seek medical advice at the earliest.

Moles - How Laser Treatment Can Help You Get Rid Of Them?

Moles - How Laser Treatment Can Help You Get Rid Of Them?

Depending on the way you look at it, a mole can be a beauty spot or a blemish. For most people, facial moles are undesired. Moles can be described as clusters of pigmented skin cells. They appear in the form of dark spots on the skin that vary in size, color and texture. Apart from the face, moles appear commonly on the arms and legs but can affect any part of the body. In most cases, moles are harmless but in some cases, they may turn precancerous and need to be removed. However, most moles are removed for only cosmetic reasons. Moles can be removed through home remedies, surgery or laser treatment.

Mole removal depends on the type, size and location of the mole. When treated with lasers, layers of the mole are removed one by one by evaporating the affected cells. This does not cause any sort of bleeding and does not disturb healthy tissues adjacent to the mole. It is also considered to be a largely pain-free procedure but you may feel a slight tingling sensation. After the laser procedure, a scab forms over the affected area which later falls off. You may also notice slight swelling and redness in the area for a few days after the procedure.

Laser treatment for mole removal has a number of advantages.

  1. As it is a non-invasive procedure, there are minimal chances of infection
  2. Multiple moles can be treated in a single session
  3. Laser beams can reach parts of the face, nose and ears that may be difficult to reach through other procedures.
  4. There are minimal disturbance and injury to the adjacent healthy tissues
  5. Healing is much faster than with other procedures
  6. There is a very low chance of scarring

However, one of the biggest disadvantages of laser therapy is that it can only be used to treat surface moles as the laser beam cannot penetrate deep into the skin. Also, laser treatment, if not recommended in cases where the mole may be considered precancerous as the laser beam will destroy the mole leaving nothing that can be used for a biopsy. Lasers are also seldom used to treat large moles or birthmarks. The cost of removing a mole with laser treatment depends on the size, location and number of moles. In some cases, more than one session may be required and this too could influence the cost of the procedure.

Using Carbon Dioxide Laser For Removing Warts, Moles and Skin Tags!

Using Carbon Dioxide Laser For Removing Warts, Moles and Skin Tags!

The application of lasers has revolutionized the field of medical dermatology in a very big way. Since the laser is a high energy source, its use must be perfect to ensure that there are no accidents or mishaps. Laser therapy is therefore used after careful evaluation of the requirements of a person. The place of laser use is also very important.

Carbon dioxide is one of the oldest and most popular lasers used among the medical fraternity. CO? lasers find a wide variety of applications. The wavelength of a CO? laser falls between 9.4 micrometers to 10.6 micrometers. The biggest advantage of this laser is that there are a lot of variants that emit a variable range of power. Another advantage of the CO? laser is that the moisture of the body can easily absorb the power that a CO? laser emits.

CO? Laser applications:

  1. Moles: Moles are clusters of melanin absorbed on the skin over many years. It stems from melanocytes and are usually brown, pink or tan in color. They can be flat or raised, oval or round. The CO? laser can remove a mole without any pain. A light scab will be formed after the laser treatment but would fall off in a few days. The laser process lasts for about 90-120 seconds.
  2. Removal of skin tags: Skin tags are also known as acrochordon. They are smaller than a grain of rice and are mostly formed on the face, groin, neck and armpit area. While they are harmless, a person can choose to remove them if they cause irritability and discomfort or have an impact on self-esteem. CO? lasers find applications here as well. It takes dermatologists about2-3 minutes to remove skin tags. No trace of them would be found after the laser treatment is complete.
  3. Warts: Plantar warts are non-cancerous. These skin extensions occur on the sole, ball of the foot, heel and other similar places. These are basically deposits of dense fibrous tissues that are deep seated in layers of the skin. They are also visible in the softer tissues of the foot. Both common warts and plantar warts are removed in the same manner. Since these are recurring extensions, medication can only limit them but cannot be used as a permanent solution. CO? lasers are the most effective treatment for this condition. The laser treatment extracts the fibrous mass from deep within the skin and ensures no recurrence of the warts. It might take a couple of sessions depending on the extent and spread of the warts. Once treated successfully, the patient would get a permanent solution to this recurrent problem.
