HbA1c% 8.7 is high. At your age it should be maintained < 6.8. Apart from that it is important to know current fasting and PP glucose levels. Another important aspect is your weight and BMI. As told by your endocrinologist pioglitazone does help insulin action by reducing resistance to its action. Pioz mf (7.5) was a fdc (fixed dose combination). Fdc is a single tablet containing more than one drug. The blood glucose levels and HbA1c% values mentioned are very good. Showing there is very good control of your diabetes. In such a situation why do you want to change the drug? Please explain. I see no reason to change at all. Thanks.

You have to stop pioz and do not try to suppress allergic reaction with anti allergic and steroid medicines.

Instead of increasing pioz dose, you can stop riomet at night and take t galvus met at night before dinner. Check sugar levels and you can follow up for further guidance privately.
