About Gliozolamide 250Mg Tablet

Gliozolamide 250Mg Tablet is an anti-cancer oral drug. It is used in chemotherapy. It is categorized as an alkylating agent. Gliozolamide 250Mg Tablet is used in the treatment of anaplastic and glioblastoma multiforme.

This medicine is used for the treatment of adult patients with refractory (first relapse) anaplastic astrocytoma who have experienced disease progression on nitrosourea and procarbazine.

On using Gliozolamide 250Mg Tablet you may experience side effects such as nausea, constipation, headache, weakness, paleness, reduced appetite, hair loss, low cognitive and memory skills and vomiting. Seek the help of your health care provider if your reactions persist and keep worsening over time.

As a precautionary measure, inform your doctor if: you are taking any prescription or non-prescription medications, you are allergic to this drug or any other medicines, or foods or substances, you are planning to take any vaccines, you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, or are nursing a baby.

The dosage for Gliozolamide 250Mg Tablet will be determined by your doctor taking into consideration your requirements. It comes in a capsule form of 5 mg, 20 mg, 100 mg and 250 mg. Usually, the daily dosage for adults ranges somewhere between 150-200 mg.

Take the medicine on an empty stomach either two hours or one hour prior to your meals or at bedtime. Dose-limiting toxicity is hematological. In the event of an overdose, hematological evaluation is necessary. Treatment is supportive.

Swallow capsules whole with a glass of water. Take on an empty stomach at similar time each day. If you have nausea and vomiting, contact healthcare provider for medicine to decrease this.

Male and female patients who take Gliozolamide 250Mg Tablet should protect against pregnancy (use effective contraception). Do not breast-feed while on medicine. Blood work necessary on day 22 and day 29 of each cycle to determine when to start next cycle and how much medicine to give.

      What are the interactions of Gliozolamide 250Mg Tablet ?

      Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

      • Interaction with Medicine

        Although valproic acid reduces the clearance of Gliozolamide 250Mg Tablet by 5%, the clinical significance of this is unknown.
      • Interaction with Food

        Food reduces rate and extent of absorption. In addition, the incidence of nausea/vomiting is decreased when the drug is taken on an empty stomach.
      • Interaction with Disease

        Prior to dosing, patients must have an absolute neutrophil count (ANC) of greater than or equal to 1.5 x 10 9/L and a platelet count of greater than or equal to 100 x 10 9/L. Must have ANC >1,500/mL, platelet count >100,000/mL before starting each cycle. Geriatric patients and women have a higher incidence of myelosuppression. Safety/efficacy in pediatrics not established. Use caution in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) currently recommends that procedures for proper handling and disposal of antineoplastic agents be considered.
