You cannot and must not quit medication just like that. It has to be supported by your doctor always. Normally, if you have been on medication and that too the optimum does and your brain gets accustomed to this dose and medication for at least 3 years without any relapses, you can reduced gradually. This has to be monitored by a doctor. If done unprofessionally, it can worsen your condition and withdrawal symptoms may get initiated. So be patient and work with your doctor. In the meantime pleas...more

Dear Imityaz,
Instead of mirtazapine and its dose, you need to learn a non medical management of stress. Interviews are normal daytoday stress like exams. You will be facing them often. It does not need mirtazapine. Mirtazapine is not a sedative to make you sleep better. Sedation is a side effect of mirtazapine.
Please learn Jacobson's deep muscle relaxation exercise or yoga/pranayama or meditation or anything your family members ask you to practice.

Hi lybrate-user.
Tab mirtazipine is an antidepressant molecule and is prescribed only by a registered practitioner .at lower dosages, it has a more of sedative action due to binding with histamine receptors. The rationale of gradually hiking or tapering the dose depends on the the status of improvement or deterioration of symptoms and hence to be done strategically by a trained professional after the thorough assessment of the patient. As sudden reduction may lead to relapse of symptoms or o...more

Hi lybrate-user
based on the limited information provided by you, it is not clear whether mirtazapine was the first medicine given to you after you were diagnosed with ocd or it was started after trial of other medications. How were you doing/improvement over mirtazapine? It's always best to cross taper a psychotropic medication rather than stopping abruptly which may otherwise lead to drug withdrawal/loss of effect. It's possible for mirtazapine withdrawal to continue up to 6-8 weeks. For t...more

You cannot calculate weight gain on the basis of dosage or when you restarted. Neither should you stop or restart medication without the doctor's consent and consultation. It is, in fact, dangerous. The weight gain is a side effect but at least the depression gets taken care of. Anyway, do talk to the doctor about your concerns but do not self-regulate the medication at any cost. Additionally, you can follow some of these instructions, which includes exercise mandatorily: You must go and meet wi...more

Hello, better stop that heavy doses of medicines.
Just take Belladonna 6C one dose whenever you get headache or attack of migraine.
It will be relieved within 10-15 mins.
No other issues, no side-effects at all.
Still if you have any queries, then please let me know.
Take care. :)

Dear Sriram,
You can stop clonazepam and see. If you can not, try for 1-2 weeks with 0.5 mg and then stop. Mirtazapine will help you to sleep better. In schizophrenia, you need mirtazapine only for few months in a year, only during clinical depression unlike continuous antipsychotic.
