In pt of pcod there is increased insulin resistance ,metformin being a insulin sensitizer drug decreases the insulin resistance, it also helps in reducing wt and in ovulation. Total dose is 1500 mg taken in 2 or 3 divided doses.
Lifestyle changes for wt reduction should also be adopted.

please give following details: weight, height, waist circumference, fasting and pp (current) and hba1c%. Pioglitazone was banned only briefly, now it is available. Still better not to use. After I get all the details I would be able to guide. Your sugar levels now look good. But please give all the details.

According to the treatment you are getting, I can see the effort of your doctor. I think you should consider taking insulin atleast for one time in a day to control it along with your medication. As you have hba1c of 10.8, it's good for your health to start insulin atleast once daily. Pls consult to your doctor about it or you can consult me online m.

Dear lybrate-user,
I am sorry to hear about your disabilities after the above knee amputation and osteoarthritis of the other knee. Weight gain in this situation is due to severe reduction in physical activity. To some extent you can compensate by exercising your arms, abdominal muslces and back muscles systematically. To control your sugars better you can try the following
if your fasting values are > 120 and pp values go above 180, reduce the quantity of carbohydrate (rice, wheat, rava...more
