About Cefazolin

Cefazolin is an antibiotic, used for the treatment of various bacterial infections including cellulitis, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, endocarditis, bone and joint infection, genital infections and biliary tract infections. During or before delivery, it is given to pregnant women to prevent group B streptococcal disease. It comes as a solution that can be injected in the muscle or in the vein. The dose depends upon the infection that the patient has.

Before taking Cefazolin consult a doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding; you are currently taking any other prescription or over the counter drugs; have stomach or bowel problems. Also inform your doctor about any known allergies you might have.

Some common side effects noticed with use of Cefazolin are diarrhea, vomiting, yeast infections and weight loss.
