Yes, it will help as betadine is an antiseptic agent. You don't need to gargle it, you just have to rinse it.
Will take around approximately a week or more to heal depending on the severity of your wound.
If it does not improve in a longer run, please consult a dentist.
Avoid using a cloth to rub your teeth and gums.
Instead use a soft bristled toothbrush to clean and be gentle while using over the gums.

You need to see your dentist as soon as possible and tell everything about your present problem. There is nothing to be worried about as the stains of iodine are temporary and will go in a couple of days.

Coming to your problem, you can choose Close up fire freeze toothpaste. It will prevent foul smells for longer. Clean your tongue daily. It will prvent foul smells further. You can use Listerine mouthwash twice daily. It will again improve your problem. At your age of 55, I would not suggest you to chew on sugar free gum bu...more

To lessen the degree of pain or soreness in the mouth during the orthodontic treatment, you can gargle with 8 ounces of lukewarm water with one teaspoonful of salt dissolved in it. Swish it around your mouth and then spit it out. It will dull the pain and provide relief.
