Dear sir, your doctor prescribes medicine after reviewing your clinical state as well as radiological examination.
Steriods may be given in case of any inflammation for short period of time. But as you have suggested you had some side effects.
I would advice you to consult your index orthopedic for follow up and get all your doubts solved.
Online forum may not be best place to change medication or do self medications.

Dexamethasone is a steroid. It should not be continued for a long time. Please do Serum Cortisol levels which will give an indication of how much steroid has been absorbed in the body, Based on the levels the next line of treatment can be given. Please donot take oral steroid for a long period as it will decrease your immunity and you will be prone to infections.

Hi lybrate-user
it's quite long time before you had a foot drop and still not recovered. Recovery chances depends on your nerve. Need to take a nerve conduction study. And then you need to see based on the report findings if there are any changes of recovery or not.
