Yes, you need to consult a psychiatrist who will move you away from alprazolam (anxit) to something less dependence producing and at the same time give some neuronal stabilisers to treat the withdrawal and then make your sleep natural and healthy. All the best.

That is not the right combination for long term treatment. Anxit i.e. Alprazolam can produce severe unwanted side effects. Consult a psychiatrist, and he/she may give ssri, snri or tca group of medications which act on the cause for anxiety, also behavioral methods need to be incorporated.

Dear Lybrate user, please do not take much medicines for your health problem. Better to maintain daily life with some behavioural therapies and treatment procedures. It is good to use food with less oil and masala. You can use fruits and green vegetables in your daily food. Everyday you do some exercises (like simple physical exercises, faith on god, prayers in the morning, engage in certain activities you like most, interact with your friends and relations. Dear Raja,

There is a risk of becoming dependent on medication like anxit. If you have taken it for several years there is good chance that you may develop some withdrawal symptoms when you come off it. Please talk to your doctor about an alternative. Discontinuing suddenly is not a good idea, your doctor will help you manage your tapering schedule. Take care.

Hello. There are many indications for the use of anxit which is a benzodiazepine. And these drugs are available only with the prescriptions as these are misused by many people as drug of abuse.
So a psychiatrist would want to know the details of your intake and reason for it so that you get the required prescription.

Anxit is alprazolam a benzodiazepine which should not be taken for more than 2 weeks. It leads to severe long term harm like early dementia, cognitive impairment, personality changes, agitation, even withdrawal seizures and brain shrinking. It has been named in a misleading way for gullible people. I am not sure how you got hooked on to it. Kindly consult a psychiatrist and take proper medicine for your stress. All the best.

Hello lybrate-user,

Anxiety is not a steroid, but still a dangerous sleeping pill. On a longer run they will shrink your brain, resulting in early onset dementia, personality changes, memory changes, even withdrawal seizures. Kindly consult a psychiatrist, get your sleep evaluated, and he will gradually wane you off the sleeping pills and give pills which promote sleep by acting on the cause of sleep disturbance, he may also educate you on sleep hyigiene.
