Thank you for the query. Uric acid is produced in our body by the metabolism of protein (purine to be specific). Increased uric acid may occur either due to increased production or decreased excretion. You may be a poor excretor. Usually, if patient is asymptomatic (for eg. No history of joint pain/gout), medications are not given. The normal uric acid level for men is preferably between 3.5-7 mg% (it may vary between laboratories).
