Dear lybrate-user! green tea is a normal diet supplement. It has no nutritional benefits. Its believed to have some antioxidants. It is not an approved treatment or cure for blood pressure, diabetes and gall stones. Hence you may choose to drink green tea how many times in a day as you may feel like. But pls do not use it as a substitute for anti blood pressure and blood glucose medications. It will cause problems then. Best wishes.

I left taking rice in my daily routine, no tea no coffee. Only millets & oats that's all I am having. I really worried a lot. After food it's shows normal ie 135, 128 r 120.

Dear Lybrateuser, - To control your blood sugar have more of fibrous food vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, beans, sprouts, nuts - have 4-5 small meals rather than three large meals, have a light dinner with protein food in it & vegetables, take a walk for 10-15 min after dinner, have a well balanced diet with controlled portion from all the food groups as not having a particular group will lead to deficiency disease & metabolic imbalance - control weight with diet & exercise + sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, keep sleep & wake up time fixed.

Thanks for writing. As per my personal opinion goes many researches are being conducted on this topic. Bcaas (leucine in particular) is known to activate mtor, which in turn, increases insulin (up to 220%). Many doctors does not recommend this drink in diabetes as chronically stimulating the pancreas to release this large amount of insulin can cause insulin resistance. Do contact us in case of futher query.

My daughter aged 14 years is type 1 diabetic diagnosed recently. She is taking insulin injections 3 to 4 times a day. Her hands and thighs are all full of injections pricks. Swelling has started now on the places where we try to give injections. Kindly suggest.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
You can give insulin injection on the abdomen. You have to rotate the site of injection to avoid swelling. Suppose you give today on left top, tomorrow right top, then right down & so on.

You will have to take treatment in medical supervision. With regular blood sugar level assessment. No sugar at all. Take a diet low in carbohydrates and fats and rich in proteins. Take plenty of fresh fruits and salads. No mangoes. Brisk walk will help but do as advised by physician. Get your treatment started early as blood sugar levels above 200, cause damage to all body organs.
