Comparatively second reading is better. Control of Diabetes is a permanent approach. I presume your father is elderly. Proper Diet which is in time, with no free sugar, more green leafy vegetables, No fast and no feast, Proper regular exercise like walking proper medications as advised by the doctor and regular visits to doctor for follow up is a general approach. .So always depend on your doctor

How can fasting blood sugar be higher than blood sugar reading taken after 2 hours last dinner? It happened many times with me. Does body produce sugar on its own?

The readings can be anything (vary every time) depending upon the sugar levels at the given time. Please read more about Diabetes and it's management from the internet and take the right steps (adapt the healthy lifestyle) to easily control the sugar levels. The basics of good control are: balanced diet (with appropriate calories according to your body needs), daily physical activity (any sort of exercise and Yoga etc) and good sleep. Relax the mind (stress management) through any hobby, relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, or visualisation. Please revert if needed, for further clarification.

I have started taking Thyronorm 75 from 19th of this month as I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. Prior to that I gained almost 8 kgs in just 15 to 20 days. Now as I am taking the medication regularly, my weight is still increasing. How and when can I start losing this weight.

Mr. Thanks for the query. Uncontrolled hypothyroidism leads to increased retention of water in the body, leading to weight gain. After starting the treatment with adequate dose of Levothyroxine, when TSH is well controlled (between 3 to 4 mU/L), then there is a possibility of loosing weight. For that apart from taking Thyroxine regularly, it is essential to take restricted diet and do regular exercise. It takes at least 6 to 8 weeks for TSH levels to come down. Then those need to be maintained with in that limit. Thanks.

I am 33 year old male, I have sugar problem 169 after meal. Please suggest what should I do?

MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Hello, may I know if you are taking any medicines? are you already suffering from diabetes? if no then I can tell you that your sugar after meal is above normal level but this consider you for diabetic medicines. In my opinion you should also get screened up for blood sugar fasting and hba1c test after which I can surely advice you what to do and what not to do in this condition. Thanks for asking.

your bmi (29.47 kg/m2) suggests you are excessively over weight. Main reason for this is inactivity and improper diet. If you want reduce weight then you have to first reduce your present food intake by at least 20 to 25 %, avoid deep fried foods completely, use whole grain flour for breads (rotis), no junk or processed food, plenty of green vegetables (avoiding cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and mustard, soya and soya containing foods), increase fiber intake. Plus exercise for at least 1 h a day, preferably brisk walking. Periodically check thyroid levels.

Your problem on face is due to your Thyroid problem-----------------Let me advie you few homoeopathic medicine and creams with which your face will look more glowing but the main culprit is your weight and try to control it if you want to have a permanent glow on your face--------------------- HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT AUCARE COMPLEXION DROPS (WOLFE DIETRI) Drink 20 drops in 20 ml fresh water 3 times daily. GLOW-AID FAIRNESS CREAM (ADVEN) Apply in circular fashion in morning nd at night BLOOME-203 SOAP (BIOFORCE) Wassh face with this face wash before applying GLOW-AID cream SUNCARE CREAM (BAKSON) Apply 30 minutes before going outsside nd again reapply after 3-4 hrss after washing with soap----------- A quick and easy solution is lemon juice. Lemons have vitamin C that can lighten dark spots on your face. It’s easy to apply. 1.Put some fresh lemon juice on a cotton ball and rub it directly on the affected skin area. 2.Allow it to dry and then wash it off with plain water. 3.Continue applying this dark spot removal home remedy for at least two weeks to get the desired result. If you have delicate or sensitive skin, you can dilute the lemon juice with plain water, rosewater, or honey. You can also use lime juice to get rid of black spots, applying it in the same manner as described above.
