Hello, according to your history, you fbs should be anywhere between 72-108 mg/dl or 4-6mmol/l and plbsshould be less than 140mg/dl or 8mmol/lthis is 2 hrs after the meal. Yes you require to take a blood test for this. Fasting means you need to have an empty stomach for atleast 6-8hrs, preferrably 8hrs. And post prandial is 2hrs after you have a meal. You can check this at home regularly with help of the glucometer. Butits preferable at your age to get it checked at 6mths interval or best I would suggest you to take a glycosylated hb test that is hba1c to monitor your blood sugar level at 3-6mths when required. This is more superior in knowing your sugar control over past 3-6mths. Take care.

Pain in the knee joints can be due to multiple reasons. One of the common condition is age related arthritis known as osteoarthritis, that affects the cartilage covering the bones and helps in smooth movement. This is a condition occurring due to wear and tear of the cartilage. Increasing uric acid in the blood invariably affects smaller joints like great toe and other smaller joints. Have got the uric acid level checked? is it high? joint pain can be relieved by pain killers or antiinflammatory drugs. Plus weight control and life style management is also helpful. For reducing uric acid levels there are drugs available as well as there is a need to avoid purine rich foods like organ meet, alcohol, chicken, sweetened drinks, certain fishes etc.

I have uric acid count of 7.8 how do I get this down to 3 or 4. Also kindly suggest diatery restrictions. Similar questions were asked some 4-5 days ago but got no response as yet.

There are many lifestyle and dietary guidelines that can be followed to protect against future flares or prevent gout or uric acid problems from occurring in the first instance: maintain a high fluid intake (2-4 liters a day) avoid alcohol maintain a healthy body weight eat a balanced diet limit fish, meat and poultry intake. If attempting to lose weight, avoid low-carbohydrate diets. If carbohydrate intake is insufficient, the body is unable to burn its own fat properly, releasing substances called ketones into the bloodstream. This results in a condition called ketosis that can increase the level of uric acid in the blood. It is most important to avoid foods that are high in purines, to ensure that the levels of uric acid in the blood do not get too high. Here is a list of high-purine foods to be wary of: beef kidneys brains dried beans and peas liver mackerel mushrooms lose some weight by walking or other exercise, avoid meats and get always be on a prescribed diet as prescribed by a registered dietitian. I am a registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator and a doctor, consult privately for detailed treatment plans using diet and medications.

Mr if blood glucose levels are maintained with in normal limit like fasting closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% <7, kidney function improves and hence creatinine level also can reverse to normal. Plus protein intake also may have to be restricted to about 0.6 g / kg per day. Thanks.

I am 22 years old. I am suffering from diabetes of high level type 1 diabetes. I am not able to eat any sweat dishes. Any solution of decrease my sugar level?

I am 22 years old. I am suffering from diabetes of high level type 1 diabetes. I am not able to eat any sweat dishes....
since you have t1 diabetes, by now you must be aware that only insulin injections is the treatment for this condition. Eating sweets will increase blood sugar very rapidly so a person with diabetes is not supposed to eat them. What can be done occsionally sweets can be made at home using sugar substitute sucralose, which does not increase blood sugar. So you may look at that option. But it is better to avoid sweets altogether.

Mr. Lybrate-user, whichever thyroid disease it may be the medication has to continue for lifetime. Particularly in hypothyroidism thyroxine has to be taken for lifetime. There is no cure.

I am 27 years & faceing the high uric acid problem. Pls advice the treatment of plantar fasciitis.

MD - Pathology
General Physician, Amritsar
For high uric acid take tablet zyloric 100 daily and after a week taper off painkillers and continue zyloric till your uric acid comes in normal range. Avoid non vegetarian food totally. Limit intake of milk and milk products, take small quantities of pulses. Avoid beans. Plantar fascitis takes its own time to heal. Give as much rest to foot as possible. Take painkillers regularly for few days and then only when needed. It can take few months to heal. If there is some problem in knee get it treated as it puts more pressure on foot.

CRUSH THE DIABETES

General Physician, Faridabad
CRUSH THE DIABETES
Following are the tips to prevent onset/or control diabetes

1-losing extra weight:-is the most significant thing which can make a big difference to your health. It helps lower your blood pressure and cholesterol too. Waist of more than 80 cm in women & 90 cm in man are at risk
2- constant and regular food timings:- it will improve your metabolic activity and helps reducing your weight.
3- split your meals and eating in moderate amount:-splitting your meals into 3-4 times per day (including snacks) and eating in fair amount, improves your metabolic rate as the food you take is not concentrated at one time.
4- no long gaps and skipping of meals:-never miss out breakfast.
5- no overeating:-never eat in a bulk on one time remember to eat your food slowly, chew well.
6- proper exercise and work outs:-exercise is a fast way to trim down calories, extra weight and controlling glucose level. Brisk walking for 30 min. Atleast five times a week is the best. You can also try cycling, swimming, dancing. Timings for exercise should be fixed and regular. Do not eat right away after a workout.
7-constant and regular timings for medication
8-avoid fried foods, meat, fats and sweets.
9- take high-fibre and complex carbohydrates:-like oats. Add whole grain foods in your diet. Avoid white bread, pasta, pizza, candies, and snacks. Instead include high-fiber carbohydrates like wheat bran, flaxseed and methi seeds to your wheat flour. This will increase fibre in your diet.
