I have high cholesterol-176. I will have to change my lifestyle. However I am a regular smoker and wanted to know if the nicotine in the cigarette increases cholesterol or the tar. Would it help if I switch to vaping. Also my heart beat increases at times. What can I do. My ECG shows everything fine. Please suggest.

Cholesterol 176 is ok. Smoking. Is a problem, reduce it to minimum. Smoking damages arteries and lungs, doesn't affect cholesterol.

What is cut off level for low BP and high BP for both age above 80 and below 80 .and also tell me whether omron home use BP machine is accurate or some difference between manual and this omron machine. Please tell it will help me a lot.

Try to keep systolic BP. Below 140 if age below 80, and below 150 if age is above 80 home recording is better way to manage BP than measuring in clinic, but home machines are slightly less accurate.

Cholesterol medicines are required mostly after blockages. If you want to avoid heart trouble, learn about diet from people who are healthy at age 90. Don't rely too much on other sources of information.

Triglycerides are best treated with proper diet. Triglycerides are manufactured in liver from polar, water soluble food stuffs like alcohol, sugar etc. Consult a physician with basic understanding of biochemistry. Or consult me, I can help. Best wishes.

I had high BP for the First time. It measured above 150/110. Doctor gave me medicine for 10 days. I monitored the BP on daily basis. It was high for 3 days and then gradually came down. For past 3 weeks it is below 130/90. I have not continued with the medicine after 10 days. I have increased my daily walks and exercise to 1 hour. Should I continue with medicine as some people say that BP medicine should never be stopped?

Yes, you can try without medicines. Continue regular BP check and exercise and take balanced diet. Too much restrictions in food are unhealthy.
