Bladder cancer refers to a  cancer, which arises from the epithelial lining or the urothelium of the urinary bladder. There are several modes of treatment for bladder cancer. They are:

1. Bladder cancer surgery: Surgeries are common for treating bladder cancer. 

2. Transurethral resection of bladder tumor or TURBT: This mode is used for determining the presence of bladder cancer and to find out if it has invaded the bladder wall muscle layer. This treatment mode is generally used in the early stages of bladder cancer.

3. Cystectomy: A cystectomy is undertaken when bladder cancer is very invasive and parts of the bladder or the whole of it has to be removed. There are two types of cystectomy.

Partial cystectomy is used when the cancer invades the bladder muscle layer in a small area. It can be removed without the whole bladder being taken out.
A Radical cystectomy is undertaken in case the cancer affects a large area and is present in multiple areas of the bladder. This surgery removes the bladder entirely and all its nearby lymph nodes.
4. Intravesical therapy: In intravesical therapy, a liquid drug is put directly into the bladder via a catheter instead of injecting it or consuming it orally. The cells lining the bladder are affected without causing any harm to other body parts. This therapy is usually used after TURBT in non-invasive cases of bladder cancer to prevent recurrence.

5. Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy is an effective treatment for bladder cancer. Chemotherapy may be used in two ways:

Intravesical chemotherapy, where the chemo drug is put directly into the bladder and is applicable only for early treatment stages.
Systematic chemotherapy, which involves the injection of chemo drugs into the vein or muscle and can also be administered in the form of pills. The drug reaches all parts of the body via the bloodstream and affects all cancer cells.
6. Radiation therapy: This treatment procedure for bladder cancer involves the use of high energy radiation for killing cancer cells. It is used in early phases of treatment and is the primary remedy for people who cannot have a surgery. It is combined with chemotherapy to make the radiation effective. The most common type of radiation therapy for treating bladder cancer is called external-beam radiation therapy where radiation occurs from an outside source.

Severe lung disease: Those with poor lung perfusion do not qualify for a liver transplant.
Advanced age: Greater the age, lesser the survival rates. So, people aged more than 70 are usually not considered for a transplant.
Obesity: A person with a BMI of more than 35 is often not a good candidate for a transplant. The overall health should be managed in these people.
Malnutrition: On the other extreme, severely malnourished individuals are also not considered for a transplant.
HIV infection: A person who is HIV-infected does not qualify for a liver transplant.
Substance abuse: Anyone who is actively abusing alcohol and/or substances is definitely removed from the list for a transplant.
Metastasis: If a patient is looking for a liver transplant due to hepatic cancer, it is essential that the cancer is contained. If it has spread to various parts, then containing it would be difficult, and a transplant may not succeed.
Multisystem organ failure: Other than heart and lungs, even people with poor renal function are not ideal candidates for a liver transplant.
A detailed liver recipient evaluation assessing the severity of liver disease, chances of survival, and overall health are done before a person is listed for liver transplant. This evaluation ensures a better success rate with the transplant.

Laparoscopic hysterectomy - About four small keyhole cuts are made in the abdomen to divide the attachments of uterus, ovaries, and tubes in the pelvis. The uterus is usually then removed through the vagina.
Abdominal hysterectomy - The uterus is removed through a cut in the lower abdomen. The cut is about 15 20 cm in length and runs across your abdomen, usually below the bikini line. Less commonly, it may be necessary to have a cut that runs from the belly button down to the pubic area.
What are the risks of undergoing this procedure?

Although the risks associated with hysterectomy are low, you should be aware that every surgical procedure has some risk. This may also depend upon the type of surgery you have. 
Severe bleeding from large blood vessels around the uterus or top of the vagina. This is not common. A blood transfusion may be required to replace blood loss. A vaginal pack may also be used to control the bleeding.
Infection in the operation site, pelvis or urinary tract.
Nearby organs such as the ureter (tube leading from kidney to bladder), bladder or bowel may be injured expected to happen to approximately one in every 140 women. Further surgery will be needed to repair the injuries.
The bowel may not work well after the operation; this is usually temporary. Treatment may include a drip to give fluids into the vein and no food or fluids by mouth.
Things to do before you come to the hospital

You will need to shower and dress in clean clothes prior to coming into hospital. It is important that you do not shave your operation site as this increases the risk of wound infection.

After your surgery

When you wake from the anesthetic, you will be ready to be transferred, in your bed, for recovery.

Having an anesthetic can make you feel sick and may cause vomiting. You will have a drip in your arm which is necessary to maintain fluid intake and provide pain relief. This will remain in until you can tolerate food and fluids and your pain control is changed to oral medication.

Your nurse will take frequent observations of your vital signs e.g. temperature, pulse, blood pressure.

You may have small amounts of water or ice to suck, then progress from fluids to a normal diet as tolerated.

If you have pain or nausea, please tell your nurse. Effective pain management is important.

You will have a urinary catheter in place. The catheter will normally be removed the day following your surgery.

Recovering at home

What to expect

You may have a blood-stained vaginal discharge which is similar to a light period. This will gradually reduce to nil over 4-6 weeks as your internal wounds heal

You may need to take some simple analgesia for pain/discomfort, especially on waking and settling at night

You may feel fatigued

You may require up to four to six weeks off work. You should have returned to normal activity by two to three months, depending on the type of surgery, although full recovery may take longer

After the operation, you will no longer have a period

For the majority of women, hysterectomy surgery does not have a negative effect on sexual function

What to avoid

For the first two to three weeks lift nothing greater than two kilograms. Increase gently as tolerated over six weeks.

It will take about three weeks before you should drive a car. Only when you know you can act confidently with emergency breaking should you attempt driving the car.

Avoid sexual intercourse for six weeks to allow healing to take place.

Avoid inserting anything into the vagina for six weeks to allow time for healing to take place (e.g. use sanitary pads and not tampons).

It is important to avoid constipation and straining immediately after your surgery as this will assist healing and improve your comfort.

Contact your doctor if you develop any of the following complications:

Your wound becomes red or inflamed, painful.

You have heavy vaginal bleeding heavier than a normal period.

You have offensive vaginal discharge.

You develop a fever i.e. temperature of about 38  C, or you are feeling unwell.

You have pain that is not relieved by simple analgesia.

You are having difficulty passing urine or opening your bowels.

Treatment-

Usually, cysts in the vagina do not require any treatment. Most of the cysts do not grow in size and thus do not cause major problems. A biopsy of the cyst may require in order to rule out chances of cancer. A common treatment for vaginal cysts would be to sit inside a bathtub filled with warm water so that the cyst is allowed to soak in the water. If there are symptoms of infection in the vagina, then antibiotics are required.

If the size of the cyst is large and filled with fluids, then a catheter needs to be inserted into it to drain out the cyst. Usually, the catheter is kept in place for a few weeks before it is removed. A surgical procedure called marsupialization is used in some cases, wherein an incision is made around the affected area and into the cyst in order to drain out its contents.

Surgery to remove the entire cyst may also be recommended to prevent its recurrence.
