1. Avoid acidity triggering foods: you should avoid the foods and drinks which are harsh on your digestive system and cause acidity and heartburn related problems during the night time. Fissure in Ano, also known as Anal Fissure, is basically a small longitudinal cut in skin that lines the opening of the anus. Fissures cause bleeding and severe pain in the bowel movements. These are very common in the general public, but often confused with other pain. A fissure can happen at any point in your lifetime and can have equal general distribution.

Types of Fissure in Ano:

  Acute Fissure: Fissure in Ano less than 6 weeks of duration is known as Acute Fissure.

  Chronic Fissure: Anal Fissure with more than 6 weeks of duration is known as Chronic Fissure. 

Causes of Fissures in Ano:

  Anal fissures are basically caused by stretching of the anal muscles beyond its capability.

  In adults, it is caused by the passing of large stools, constipation or by prolonged diarrhea.   In older adults it is caused by the less flow of blood to that area.

  It is also caused by sexually transmitted infections (syphilis, chlamydia, herpes) and it results in fissures.

  Anal sex can also be the cause of fissures.

Symptoms of Fissures in Ano:

  Tear in the skin around the anus

  Small lump of skin, or skin tag next to the tear

  Pain during bowel movement

  Stools with blood or pus

  Itching and burning in the anal area 

Preventions During Fissures in Ano:

  One should drink enough water.

  One should have high fibre diet so that one does not suffer from constipation.

  Be careful and hygienic after anal defecation.

  In case of suspected fissure or any kind of pain, use a lubricating ointment.

  Sit in lukewarm water

Treatment for Fissures in Ano

Surgical treatments are not recommended, but there are some other measures that can be taken and are listed as follows:

  Some prescribed medication to lower the severity of pain.

  Nitroglycerin ointment may help heal the fissure.

  Having a rich fiber diet as a lifestyle change.

  Drink enough water as that helps in softening the stool.

  Sometimes Stool softeners may be required to soften the bowel movement.

When Anal Fissure does not heal with all of the above listed things, then a surgery may be required:

  Lower most part of the internal anal sphincter is divided laterally. With this acute fissure heals of its own. In chronic cases one may require to undergo fissurectomy.

  The surgery decreases the anal pain and spasm, allowing the fissure to heal.

  If a sentinel pile is present, it is removed to heal the fissure. 

It is important to note that any kind of treatment requires 6-10 weeks to recover. However, the pain may disappear just after 2-4 days after the surgery. This is also known as the BRAT diet. You could also include a simple chicken soup, baked skinless chicken and oatmeal in your diet.

Alcohol and milk are best left aside until your stomach has healed. Other foods you should avoid include chewing gums with artificial sweeteners, berries, beans, peas, prunes, peppers and ice cream.

Hyper acidity (Amlapitta) is also called Acid Dyspepsia, which is one of the most common problem. Hyperacidity is a condition in which stomach secretes excess amount of acid.

Medicated water with ushir (wala) or coriander-cumin seeds or tulsi seeds (sabja) or laja (puffed rice). 

Take Warm water.

Take Moravla (jam made from amla), gulkand (jam made from rose petals) 

Take One teaspoonful of ghee with warm milk

As the disease is of Pitta origin, all measures are undertaken to pacify pitta.

Colon polyps are growths that are typically found in the large intestine. Although the causes behind the occurrence of colon polyps are not known, this condition is usually seen to affect adults.
These colon polyps might turn into colon cancer over a period of time; the development of cancer can happen over a number of years.
Colon polyps are usually symptomless; hence it becomes difficult to diagnose the condition. They are commonly found as additional results of screening tests for colon cancers. Flexible Sigmoidoscopy: It is similar to colonoscopy with the only difference being that the tube is smaller.
Computed Tomographic Colonography (CTC): Also known as virtual colonoscopy, various computer systems and X-rays are used to create a detailed picture of the colon so that the doctor can search for polyps.
The size of the colon polyps helps to identify if the polyp is cancerous or not. Chances of the polyp being cancerous are high if the size of the polyp is higher than 1 cm or 0.4 inches. Hyperplastic polyps (smaller polyps) do not become cancerous and hence, do not need to undergo a colonoscopy. Another form of polyp is the sessile polyp which is usually a flat growth without a stalk and grows on the inner wall of the colon. Similar to other polyps, these polyps can be found and removed using a colonoscopy or a sigmoidoscopy.

Causes and Symptoms of Colonic Polyps

Unripe Bananas: The interesting fact is that while unripe bananas can trigger poop problems, ripe and yellow bananas can help in releasing it. This is because the green and unripe bananas are rich in starch content which makes it difficult for the stomach to digest.
Swallowing Chewing Gums: While it is not true that if someone accidentally swallows chewing gum, it would linger in the stomach for several years, too many chewing gums if swallowed over a short period, can cause blockage of the digestive tract leading to constipation problems. The situation turns even worse when chewing gums are swallowed with other indigestible substances like seeds.
Caffeine: Though caffeine is known as a bowel stimulator, it can lead to stool problems when someone has too much of caffeine in the form of chocolate, black tea, coffee and caffeinated water when the body is dehydrated. It leads to constipation, bloating and several other bowel related issues.
The key to having a healthy bowel movement every morning is to keep oneself hydrated by drinking plenty of water and eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables with high fiber content.
