My name is Prof D S Gambhir. I am basically a cardiologist and specialized in the field of interventional cardiology. I am a graduate of Maulana Azad Medical College New Delhi and then did my post graduation with specialization in cardiology from G B Pant Hospital Delhi. I joined as faculty in G B Pant Hospital in the year 1985 and then rosed to the position Professor at a young age of 44. After having worked there as in different position in G B Pant Hospital I shifted to private sector where I am working now as a Group Director of Cardiology as Kailash Group of Hospitals in Noida & Delhi. The field of Interventional Cardiology have grown tremendously over past 3 decades as you know the first coronary intervention was done on 16th of September 1977. We at G B Pant Hospital started doing the procedures almost 9 to 10 years later. I personally have performed or are performing complex cases of interventional in coronaries for the past 2 decades. Amongst all the interventions for the treatment of coronary disease I feel one of the most challenging is to treat the disease in the main coronary arteries we call as left main coronary artery stenosis.

And I am fortunate that I have done successfully this treatment of the main coronary artery disease non surgically by deploying medicated stents in more than 500 patients over the past 11 years. And my results have been excellent to the success rate of 99%. I am also a pioneer in developing one of the first medicated or a drug routing stent in the country which was the 2nd in the world and the data for this drug routing stent was presented in one of the European meetings way back in 2006 and was acclaimed as one of the highly appreciated stents in the world. This trial conducted on this stent developed by us was presented in one of the largest meetings in Europe and was highly acclaimed and considered to be one of the very good stents developed all over in the world.

We have been using different kind of stents in our hospital but we still embark upon predominantly some of the best stents available in the world. I would also like to add that our results are equally comparable to anywhere in the world. We not only do interventions in the coronary artery disease stents but we also guide the interventions by imaging techniques like ultrasound OCT and several other new devices.
