I am suffering from fissure from past 3 months, when ever I use medicines it is under control, but once I stop using medicines it again giving me pain. What is the treatment for it. My doctor suggested surgery, do need to go surgery with out any other options?

MBBS, DNB (General Surgery)
General Surgeon,
Fissure is a chronic recurring problem that is difficult to treat. Patient lifestyle modification is an important aspect of its treatment. Measures like plenty of oral fluids avoiding foods which are spicy and oily and foods which cause constipation green leafy vegetables in diet short and regular meals rather than binge drinking are very helpful. Surgery is required in conditions where medical treatment fails to reduce symptoms or the problem is recurring. The examining doctor would be the best judge for that.

dear there is nothing shocking in your report..cholesterol and ldl are raised and fatty liver is only grade 1 i.e. very mild.. raised cholesterol levels is a lifestyle disorder....when raised for long time it starts getting deposited in the liver ,which has started in your case..since u r young and must be eating out just you have to bring some changes in your lifestyle... exercise daily for atleast 30 min..eat plenty of water ..say completely no to junk food ,fried food, take saffola oils for cooking your food..dont smoke or drink alcohol coz these put stress on liver.avoid non veg food....sleep well in night on time at around 10-11 o clock...your fatty liver and cholesterol are manageable with such steps done regularly for 2-3 months..otherwise drugs ,if started for your raised cholesterol levels will have to be taken LIFELONG ...and u r too young to take them lifelong..now choice is yours

Bladder Pain - 6 Reasons Behind it

DNB (Urology), MS - General Surgery, MBBS
Urologist, Delhi
Bladder Pain - 6 Reasons Behind it

Bladder is an organ of the lower abdomen which stores urine. Though it is a problem common to both men and women, women are two times more prone to be affected than men.

The following are some of the causes that give rise to bladder pain.

  1. Bacterial infection or urinary tract infection is one of the common causes of bladder pain. Women are more likely to encounter uninary tract infection. It occurs if bacteria sneak in through the urethra leading to develop an infection in the urinary tract, which in turn affects the urinary bladder.
  2. Sometimes bladder stones can also give rise to bladder pain.
  3. Painful Bladder Syndrome is yet another cause, wherein your bladder holds pee after your kidneys have filtered it but before you pee it out. This condition causes pain and pressure below your belly button, causing pain in the bladder.
  4. Chronic pelvic pain is pain in the area below your bellybutton and between your hips that lasts six months or longer. There are multiple causes for such pain.
  5. Bladder cancer is another possible cause of bladder pain. If uncontrolled cancer cells are formed in the bladder, then it gives rise to bladder cancer. Bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers and generates unbearable pain in the bladder.
  6. Interstitial cystitis is another condition which gives rise to severe bladder pain. This condition is more commonly seen in women. The bladder becomes inflamed and irritated and the pain gets worse when the bladder is full or during menstruation. It is a chronic condition.
  7. Urethral stricture is another cause of bladder pain. Men are likely to be more affected by this condition. In this case, the urethra becomes inflamed and narrow creating difficulties to pass urine.
  8. Yeast infection also known as, Torulopsis is another cause of bladder pain.

Bladder pain can vary from being mild to severe. But, no matter what the degree of pain is, it requires serious medical attention. It is highly recommended that if you are suffering from bladder pain you must consult and seek a doctor's advice right from the beginning.

I am just married. My hubby wants sex. He tried for anal sex also. I felt pain when he penetrates in my anus. I want to know the fact with anal sex.

Diploma in Family Medicine, M.Sc - Psychotherapy
Sexologist, Pune
Anal sex has its disadvantages, it is painful cause it hurts a tight muscle ring and in the long term may cause anal incontinence, fissures and other injuries. The chances of getting infection are also high. Ask your hubby to learn more about such sexual practices before indulging in them.

I can suggest eating at regular intervals. Eat less but frequently, if you are bed ridden. Drink water either half hour before food or 2 hours after food to prevent reflux. Avoid fried and spicy foods. Eat plenty of greens.
