I am having urinary retention due to spine and I was on catheter. After spine surgery, catheter was removed and urine was normal. Now again, problem occur now, I am not able to urinate on standing position sometimes. Sometimes I have to sit to urinate, sometimes I can do on standing position. Every time it burns on urination. It takes time to start urinate. No uti, no prostate. What it can be?

Thanks for your query, as you have mentioned prolonged catheterisation in the past and as there is no UTI and prostate enlargement ,there is another possibility of stricture urethra .so I would like to suggest you to see nearby urologist to rule out due requirement of futher investigations as maturating cystourethrogram or retrograde urethrogram. Look for urinary tract infection, get done the Urine culture sensitivity, history of catheter caused the infection, bladder training is advisable.
