Hello doctor. I was said I have developed an abscess on my inner vaginal lip. For which doctor gave medicines and ointment povidine iodine (betadine) bd per day but the moment I am applying the ointment its causing intense itching; stinging; burning and wired sensation in my vagina where its applied. Is this normal. Or should I stop using it? Also I feel I have developed white small rugae (vaginal rugae like) near vaginal opening. Noticed this from the day I am having these symptoms. So if I stop the ointment will this also reduce back. Of not then what should I do to make the skin rugae free near vaginal opening. Kindly suggest. Waiting for reply please.

Hi lybrate-user, if you have so much of trouble after applying the ointment then stop it asap and again meet with your doctor regarding this. Continue your oral medication as it is. May be your vaginal skin is allergic to betadine component.
