I am 57. I quit smoking a while ago. I have had a cough for the last 2 months. In the last month I have had coughing fits, which produce very little or no phlegm. I have had a clear xray last week. I take symbicort and ventolin, nasonex, ambroxol, and singulair. I have seen a pulmonologist and that is the source of the meds. I use an air purifier. Some days I have no symptoms, then it will start and can last as long as it wants to. I do not know what triggers it. I just saw a dentist for a pulled tooth and he gave me azithromycin for 6 days. Could it be pertussis? Any ideas?
