Hello sir, I hope you're doing well. I'm 24 years old male, 170 cm tall weighing 82 kg and i've been diagnosed with mild aortic valve stenosis since 6 months without any recognized symptoms. I visited my doctor yesterday to do echo check up for my heart again and those were the results: second echo (yesterday) peak mvg: 44 mean mvg: 25 first echo (6 months ago) peak mvg: 44 mean mvg: 26 the doctor told me that i'm ok for now because there is no progression and the valve status is not getting worse. But he gave me a medicine named "rosuvastatin denk 5 mg" and told me that I can take this medicine to prevent having calcification within the valve (even though my aortic valve condition is on-birth related and not caused by calcification as he said). Also, he said that I can take it each 2 days if I want and when I asked him if this medicine is necessary for me or not he said that it is optional but it has a great benefits for the heart so it's recommended in his opinion. Can you please advise me about that medicine the doctor asked me to take? Is it ok to skip it? What about the side effects for it? And if I have to take it, for how long should I keep taking it? Because I like to take the medicines if they are necessary only. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards mohammed khader.

Hi.. Most probably you have bicuspid aortic valve which is causing aortic stenosis, which is the most common cause of it. Rosuvastatin is recommended to prevent calcification of valve , but it hasnt been proven to be of great clinical benefit , but it definitely haS no harm at that dose. You can safely continue taking it and get an echo done yearly to just keep a check on progression of your aortic stenosis Tc
