You are too young to need antidepressants. Why don?t you first try other behavior modification and counseling methods and if they fail, you may go for medication. Depression is a mood disorder and the more you deal with your emotions, the better you will feel. You need to particularly look at sadness and anger. If you do 30 minutes of vigorous exercise every day, the brain will produce natural antidepressants. Also a diet high in proteins will help. Be active, socialize often. Expose yourself to sunlight for at least 30 minutes every day, talk to people, do not sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am daily, play contact games, watch entertaining sitcoms, comedies, and cheerful videos. You could listen to good music, read mind-grabbing books (though you must not use it to withdraw from people), go out even on tours, excursions, picnics etc, join a social club, and develop some interesting hobbies, and so on. When these fail to get you out of the depression, then go to a psychiatrist.
