I'm a 19 year old male. I used to follow a strict no-shave rule so as to allow my beard to grow longer uniformly. Even after years of waiting it remains patchy. Two weeks ago I decided to clean shave it. I did this on hearing from somewhere that shaving can improve beard thickness and growth. I shaved manually with a razor and shaving gel. I didn't use an aftershave or anything (never knew the need of one actually. Soon it got really itchy around my face. I unable to control went on scratching it and boom I got blackened looking marks around my beard:(.I used an antiseptic in warm water and tried to stop the burning sensation. It only gave me temporary relief. Now its just the dark coloration on specific areas around my chin and moustache. Is this due to ingrowth? Or an allergy (Never did a cle? How do I avoid this in the future? Should I just go to a dermatologist?

Your black colour is due to allergy to the cream or razor . Some people will not have regular beard and it will be patchy and need not worry
