Hello doctor, I would like to ask you a question. My dad will undergo cataract operation as doctor has suggested him. But his sugar level is high. What precaution must be taken in order to reduce the sugar level and make the operation a success. Also advise what other precautions must be taken before and after the operation. Thanks and regards.

Cataract surgery now is very safe and painless procedure, as he is diabetic please consult diabetologist for fitness for surgery. Antibiotic eye drops two days before surgery and 1-1 1/2 month after surgery needed, do not sleep on the operated side, do not rub your eyes, do not forget to put eye drops, dark glasses etc. You will get your number after 30-45 days after surgery. Any thing specific will be answered in next query.
