Probably there has been a hole in ear membrane earlier but silent or may be after water has entered inside. This is suggestive of middle ear infection. You should see ENT specialist for direct examination, proper ear toilet, diagnosis and treatment. You must keep ears dry. No water, oil or ear drops till examined by Specialist.

Water can get sometime inside our ear during bathing or swimming. The fact is that we are all living beings and so mostly minimum amount of clean water inside the ear will be absorbed gradually due to body heat and other mechanisms. But if water is too cold or contaminated, than your middle part or inner part of ear canal will get inflamed and infected. This inflammation spreads rapidly towards tympanic membrane and causes pain on deglutination or jaw movement. Brownish coloured fluid has been seen once, which may be abrasive wound or chronic suppurative otitis media. So consult any ENT surgeon with digital x-ray of left ear immediately. Avoid any ear drops or oil inflitration in left ear. Avoid any hot fomentation without ENT doctor advice. Avoid aural toilet, if adviced in any private chamber as aural toilet is contraindicated in perforated tympanic membrane. Avoid cold contact as air conditioned room. Take care.
