Roxywok Syrup

Roxywok Syrup belongs to a group of medicines called macrolide antibiotics. It is used to prevent and treat bacterial infection of the urinary tract and inner layers of the skin. It also treats respiratory infections from both upper and lower airways, such as otitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis and pneumonia. Roxywok Syrup prevents bacteria from growing, by interfering with their protein synthesis. Take Roxywok Syrup as directed by your physician. The usual dose is a 150 mg tablet twice daily, taken at morning and evening, before meals.

Roxywok Syrup can also cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Most common side effects are gastrointestinal; diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting. Less common side effects include central or peripheral nervous system events such as headaches, dizziness, vertigo, and also rashes, abnormal liver function values and alteration in senses of smell and taste.

There are certain medical conditions that can interact with Roxywok Syrup. You need to inform your physician if you have the following conditions –

• You are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including herbal products or drugs obtained without a prescription.
• You are hypersensitive to specific foods, medicines or other allergens.
• You suffer from any kind of liver disease or ergot alkaloids.
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Your dosage will depend on factors like age, the condition, severity and whether or not you have other medical problems. The effect of this medicine can be observed within 1-2 hours of oral administration and lasts for an average duration of 12 hours. Overdose of this drug can result in symptoms of weakness and dizziness.

• Acute Pharyngitis

  It helps in treating bacterial infections of the throat and airways. Common symptoms may include a sore throat and difficulty in swallowing.

• Tonsilitis

  It treats bacterial infection of the tonsils.

• Sinusitis

  This medication helps in preventing bacterial infections of the sinuses present behind the nose.

• Acute Bronchitis

  It cures bacterial infection of the airways leading to the lung. It is also used to treat chronic bacterial infections especially when the symptoms get worse.

• Pneumonia

  It cures bacterial infections of the lungs. Symptoms of this condition may include high fever, tiredness, headache etc.

• Skin And Soft Tissue Infections

  This syrup helps in treating bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissue beneath the skin. Symptoms may include red and painful hair base, fever and chills etc.

• Infections Of Urinary Tract

  Roxywok Syrup cures infection of the urinary tract given that it is not caused by Gonococcal strain of the bacteria.

• Impetigo

  It treats bacterial infection of the skin characterized by red and painful sores on the skin around nose and mouth.

• Allergy

  Roxywok Syrup is not recommended for use if you have a history of allergy to it or any other component of the medicine.

• Ergot alkaloids

  Roxywok Syrup is not recommended for use along with medicines containing ergot alkaloids. These ergot medicines are used to treat migraine headaches in most cases.

• Liver Disease

  Roxywok Syrup is not recommended for use if you have a severe liver disease or the liver function is severely impaired.

• Nausea Or Vomiting

• Severe Diarrhea

• How long is the duration of effect?

  The effect of this syrup lasts for an average duration of 12 hours.

  No habit forming tendencies were reported.

  Missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. It is recommended to skip your missed dose, if it is the time for your next scheduled dose.

• Are there any overdose instructions?

  Contact a doctor immediately if an overdose is suspected.

Roxywok Syrup is an antibiotic that prevents the growth of bacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of protein in their cells. It binds itself to the bacterial ribosome and inhibits the synthesis of peptides. It diffuses easily into phagocytes and most tissues.

Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

• Interaction with Alcohol

  Alcohol

  Interaction with alcohol is unknown. It is advisable to consult your doctor before consumption.

• Interaction with Medicine

  Cisapride

  Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may require a dose adjustment and clinical monitoring of symptoms while taking them together.

  Warfarin

  Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may require a dose adjustment and clinical monitoring of clotting time while taking them together. Any unexpected bleeding, presence of blood in vomit and stools should be reported to the doctor immediately.

  Theophylline

  Report the usage of Theophylline to the doctor if Roxywok Syrup is prescribed. Suitable dose adjustment and safety monitoring are advised in such cases.

  Ergot alkaloids

  Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. Since the use of these medicines together is not recommended, your doctor may prescribe an alternative. Do not stop the use of any medication without consulting your doctor.

  Disopyramide

  Report the use of either of the medicine to the doctor. You may require an adjusted dose of Disopyramide when taking it along with Roxywok Syrup. Adverse effects like heart rhythm disorders and increased heart beat should be reported immediately.

• Interaction with Disease

  Liver Disease

  This medicine should be administered with extreme caution in patients having an active liver disease or impaired kidney function. Regular monitoring of liver function is recommended especially when the usage of the medicine is long term.

  Heart Rhythm Disorders

  This medicine should be used with caution in patients having heart rhythm disorders. Suitable dose adjustment and safety monitoring is advised in such cases.
