• The liposuction cannula is inserted perpendicularly and moved back and forth to break down the fat tissues. The surgeon uses his/her non-dominant hand to monitor the placement of the cannula along with its trajectory to determine the endpoint of the surgery.
• Once the fat tissues are broken, an aspirator connected to the cannula is turned on to suction out the fat.
• The same steps are repeated until the desired contour of the treated area is achieved.
• The incisions can be left open to allow proper fluid drainage, or the surgeon may use sutures to close the incisions. A compression garment is also given to the patient to be worn during the recovery period.

After surgery, the patient’s vitals are monitored for a few hours and then he/she is sent home on the same day.
