Over a period of time they became a ritual that got integrated into their day to day life. These series of rituals are known as samskaras. Swarna prashana is one of sixteen samskaras mentioned in ancient texts for paediatrics. It is an unique method to build long lasting health and intellect naturally without leaving any harmful side effects.

Swarna prashana is an unique method of giving swarna bhasma (gold ash) mixed with honey and ghee that is fortified with arka, an herbal extracts like vacha, brahmi, shankupushpi, etc. To children orally.

1. Drink one glass (250 ml.) of coconut water or grape juice.
2. Take 3-4 pieces of dates and cook them with one glass of milk or water. Eat the dates and drink the milk or water. It is also good to blend them in a mixture before taking. This drink is very good and give instant energy.

How to Overcome Premature Ejaculation?

Premature ejaculation is a kind of sexual dysfunction. Almost 1 out of 3 men experience this problem at some point. Premature ejaculation is an uncontrollable ejaculation that occurs shortly after sexual intercourse. It may result in unsatisfactory sex for both partners. This can increase the anxiety that may add to the problem.

Premature ejaculation is the inability to delay ejaculation for more than one minute after penetration. It can be classified in two types – lifelong and acquired. Lifelong premature ejaculation occurs all or nearly all of the time beginning with your first sexual encounters. Acquired premature ejaculation develops after you’ve had previous sexual experiences without ejaculatory problems.


Premature ejaculation

The exact cause of this condition isn’t known. However, there are certain causes that are believed to cause this problem.

Psychological causes:

Psychological factors that might play a role include:

  • Early sexual experiences
  • Sexual abuse
  • Depression
  • Worrying about premature ejaculation
  • Feeling guilty
  • Biological causes
  • A number of biological factors might contribute to this such as:
  • Abnormal hormone levels
  • Abnormal levels neurotransmitters
  • Inflammation and infection of the prostate or urethra
  • Inherited traits

Other factors

1. Erectile dysfunction

Premature ejaculation can be at higher risk in you if you have erectile dysfunction or if you have fear of losing your erection that may also cause you to consciously or unconsciously hurry through sexual encounters resulting premature ejaculation.

2. Anxiety

Anxiety is also one of the causes of this problem. Many men with this problem may have anxiety either specifically about sexual performance or related to other issues.

How to overcome premature ejaculation?

Ejaculation can be considered premature when it occurs 30 seconds to 4 minutes into sex. However, it seems that most tend to agree that any sexual intercourse lasting less than 2 minutes can be considered premature ejaculation. There are some ways to overcome premature ejaculation.

1. Behavioral techniques

Behavioral techniques can help you delay orgasm. It involves stimulating the penis and stopping just before you feel you are about to ejaculate. Stop this for 30-60 seconds and restart. Repeat this process up to 4-5 times unless you decide to delay orgasm. It also involves squeezing the penis in the area between the shaft and the glans before you are about to ejaculate.

2. Other tips

Use a thick condom to help decrease sensation. Take a deep breath. This can decrease anxiety and help you gain better control over your ejaculation. Have sex with your partner on top and take breaks during sex and distract your mind by thinking about something boring.

3. Medication

If these techniques are not helpful medications are recommended to treat this problem. These medicines are basically antidepressants. These pills may have side effects such as nausea, headache and delaying ejaculation.

Remove carpet from bedroom.
Remove upholstered furniture from the bedroom.
Wash bedding and nightclothes in hot water.
Decrease household humidity to less than 50 percent.
Remove humidifiers and check air conditioning units regularly for mold contamination.
Encase mattress, box spring and pillow in mite-proof covers.
Minimize dust- and pollen-collecting surfaces (e.g, shelving, stuffed animals, books).
Minimize use of indoor ceiling fans.
Use blinds or washable curtains with shades and clean them often.
Avoid vacuuming when dust-sensitive patients are home.
Keep pets outside or at least out of bedrooms and off of upholstered furniture.
Give pets their own washable beds and wash the beds often. For cat allergy you could try the following: air purifier could be of benefit; keep cats away from furniture or your bed; vacuum frequently with a hepa filter; sweep the floors and clean the furniture. Drapes and carpets can trap dander. A friend claims that using a wet washcloth with water and vinegar and rubbing the cat fur while petting it can reduce dander. Regularly brushing the cat and bathing it could help. If you have petted your cat, wash your hands afterwards. Keep the cat outdoors when possible. 
Use the air conditioner, rather than opening windows, in the automobile and home. 
Bathe or shower before bedtime to remove pollen from hair and body, this may provide some allergy relief.
Remove visible mold from walls and floors using a solution of water and chlorine bleach, or a product that contains chlorine bleach or other fungicides.
To control insects, particularly cockroaches, wash dishes promptly, keep garbage in tightly closed containers outside of the home, remove or repair sources of water (e. G, leaking faucets, standing water in basements), wipe up food spills and keep food in tightly sealed containers.
Keep in mind that hair dyes are a cause of allergies, and they can even cause anaphylaxis.

Ayurvedic recipe #kitchari


Kitchari means mixture, usually of two grains. This is one kitchari recipe that is particularly nourishing and easy to digest. Please note the options below for some alternatives.



Vegetables such as zucchini, asparagus, sweet potato

For vata or kapha conditions: add a pinch of ginger powder

For pitta: leave out the mustard seeds



1/2 cup basmati rice

1 cup mung dal (split yellow)

6 cups (approx.) water

1/2 to 1 inch ginger root, chopped or grated

A bit of mineral salt (1/4 tsp. Or so)

2 tsp. Ghee

1/2 tsp. Coriander powder

1/2 tsp. Cumin powder

1/2 tsp. Whole cumin seeds

1/2 tsp. Mustard seeds

1/2 tsp. Turmeric powder

1 pinch asafoetida (hing)

Handful fresh cilantro leaves

1 and 1/2 cups assorted vegetables (optional)




Carefully pick over rice and dal to remove any stones. Wash each separately in at least 2 changes of water. Add the 6 cups of water to the rice and dal and cook covered until it becomes soft, about 20 minutes.

While that is cooking, prepare any vegetables that suit your constitution. Cut them into smallish pieces. Add the vegetables to the cooked rice and dal mixture and cook 10 minutes longer.


In a separate saucepan, sauté the seeds in the ghee until they pop. Then add the other spices. Stir together to release the flavors. Stir the sautéed spices into the cooked dal, rice, and vegetable mixture. Add the mineral salt and chopped fresh cilantro and serve.


#caution: kitchari mono-diet can lead to constipation if taken exclusively for several days, as it is low in fiber. To ensure proper elimination, the following may prove helpful if taken once a day, away from kitchari meals: psyllium husks or seeds with water or oat bran or prune juice.

Chronic pancreatitis in ayurveda.


Pancreas also known as aganashaya/grahani is celebrated as the special seat of agni (fire) in the body. 
 Ayurvedic treatment chronic pancreatitis.

Pancreatitis in the initial phase is vata-pita (air & fire elements) aggravation in rasa dhatu (digestive fluids) situated in agnashaya (pancreas). In the chronic state there is dhatu kshaya (degenerative changes) in agnashaya.
Pancreatitis is one of the most painful conditions. In western thought it refers to a state of inflammation of the pancreas. The changes taking place in chronic pancreatitis are known to be irreversible. Enzymes become activated while still in pancreas, irritating the pancreatic cells causing inflammation and associated signs and symptoms.
Many causes of pancreatitis are known like alcoholism, gall stones, abdominal surgery, medications, smoking, high triglycerides, hypercalcemia, family history of pancreatitis, hyper parathyroidism and cystic fibrosis. Another common cause is idiopathic or simply unknown.

Our approach
We have treated a wide range of cases of chronic pancreatitis including:
•autoimmune condition in kids
•necrotising varieties.
Where pancreatitis has progressed to a chronic stage it is better managed with our medicines and dietary guidelines. The medicines vary from person to person depending on the age, body constitution and disease status. All these aspects are assessed by our doctors before deciding the line of treatment. The aim of the treatment is to balance air and fire elements. We don’t admit the patients as panchakarma procedures are not required in these cases.

Ayurveda pancreatitis
#amla-the wonder herb in pancreatitis
In acute cases our medicines could not give the desired results and such cases are better handled with allopathic medicine as the aim of the treatment is to tide over the crisis and give supportive treatment.

•duration of treatment varies from 2-6 months. The patient will first start experiencing a better digestion but the pain might still come. Slowly, over the next few weeks the intensity and frequency of pains will decrease. There is a chance of relapse of symptoms during the treatment if patient does not comply with dietary instructions.

#diet and #lifestyle
#food -
•use satvik diet consisting of vegetables, cereals, fruits and non refined items. More stress should be on cooked rather than uncooked.
•diluted buttermilk (#lassi) and indian gooseberry (amla) are the choicest of foods for chronic pancreatitis in ayurveda. Lassi can be made by mixing 10 ml of curd in 50 ml of water. Cumin powder and salt can be added to taste. Taking curd alone is not good.

The following are to be #avoided -

•foods having pungent and sour taste are to be avoided in general.
•fish, meat, cheese, curd, raw onion, garlic, lemon, hot spicy food
•refined wheat flour, refined sugar, deep fried food, fast food
•refrigerated foods like ice cream
•alcohol and smoking. Ayurvedic drink pancreatitis

•vajrasana (thunderbolt pose) after food
•avoid daytime sleeping.
•dinner should be very light preferably soups.

It provides a means to express love, which is the basis for all kinds of creative activities. The absence of which hinders the marital relationship that leaves the frustration, at some point ends in divorce and causes inefficiency in performing routine duties.

Infertility is defined as failure to achieve a pregnancy after a year of unprotected regular intercourse with the same partner. Infertility also affects men and women. Living a healthy lifestyle is important for fertility. Lifestyle factors can affect a man’s fertility, and many of these factors are things that a man can control. Leading a healthy lifestyle improves not only the possibilities of conceiving but also improves overall health.

Ayurveda, the science of life, prevention and longevity, is the oldest and most complete holistic medical system available in the world. Its basic principles can be found in the Hindu scriptures called the Vedas, the ancient Indian books of wisdom written more than 5,000 years ago.

Ayurveda uses the principles inherent in nature to help preserve the health of a person by keeping the body, mind and spirit of the person in perfect balance with nature.

Ayurveda has developed a special branch to deal with the problems of infertility known as Vajikarana, which means: make us potent as a vaji “horse”. The name derives from the fact that horses have always been a symbol of virility in ancient cultures.

Ayurveda states that reproductive health depends on the health of shukra and atharv dhatu, or reproductive tissue, in both men and women respectively. In women tissue atharv produces the ovum as part of the monthly cycle, and men produce semen.

The quality of the breeding juices is directly related to the quality of the other tissues. The physical body consists of seven tissues (dhatu): plasma, blood, muscles, fat, bones, nerves and finally the reproductive tissue. The food we eat is metabolized in the digestive system and transformed – through agni, or fire – into nutrients for our body. These nutrients are what will make up the first tissue, plasma.

From there, the other tissues are being form one by one using as part of the subsequent tissue as the base material. The height of this process is reached when part of the reproductive tissue is transformed into an eighth tissue, subtle in nature, known as ojas (an essence that gives us immunity, brilliance, strength, splendor and vitality)

Infertility can often be associated with deficiency in the correct production of body tissues, poor quality of agni, as well as the presence of toxins due to inadequate diet and lifestyle.

There are two types of foods and herbs that help improve shukra dhatu, and thus help improve fertility. Some are called bringhana, and these foods strengthen the seven dhatus. The second type is called vrishya and these foods and herbs are for the shukra dhatu in particular. Bringhana foods are fresh organic fruits and vegetables, whole grains, milk proteins, soaked almonds and walnuts, natural sweets, juicy fruits like mangos and dried fruits like figs. Vrishya foods are asparagus, broccoli, happy cow’s milk and spices like cumin seeds and coriander, shatavari, kapikachu and kalamusli.

Types of vajikarana

Ayurveda considers all substances that enhance the sexual activity as vajikarana dravyas and may include herbs, ornaments, gold, silver, pearls, precious stones etc. Vajikarana dravyas include the following:

Semen enhancing like milk, ghee, gokshura, shatavari, yashtimadhu etc. Semen purifying like kushtha, sugar cane, bayberry etc. Promoting fertilization capacity in semen like brahmi, shatavari, katuka, guduchi etc. Libido increasing like akarakarabha, saffron, clove, garlic, pippali etc. Premature ejaculation preventing like nutmeg, ashwagandha, chandan, jatamansi etc.

Easy home remedies for sore throat

An itchy, scratchy and burning throat is something we all experience, at least once a year, if not more. Depending on your body's immunity, it occurs more often. While there is good medication to cure the problem, there also exist home remedies which can cure it. Keep a note of these things also to prevent a bad throat.

Fix sore throat with:

1. Salt water gargle - this might not be new to you as it is the first remedy elders in the family advice about - to gargle with salt water. The warm water with salt in it relieves the discomfort in the swollen tissues and pulls the mucous out.

2. Over-the-counter throat lozenges: these are extremely convenient and dependable. 3. Ginger, clove, tulsi - chewing on pieces of ginger is beneficial. Ginger juice soothes the throat and calms the itching. Especially helpful during the nights, so that one can sleep peacefully. Cloves and tulsi leaves when chewed individually also give similar soothing effects to a sore throat.

4. Drink loads of water - it is important to stay hydrated because dehydration leads to decrease in production of mucous and saliva in the mouth. More fluids in the mouth help deal with sore throat better.

5. Warmth of honey - warm tea with honey is an ideal way to soothe the irritated throat. Honey is said to be effective in suppressing coughs.

6. Avoiding cold drinks - whatever you drink, make sure it is warm or even better, hot. Avoid drinking or eating anything cold as they will only aggravate the condition of the throat.

We come across a number of couples who have tried every kind of fertility treatment available, but have not been able to find the right solution to their fertility problems.

With pressures of modern life, mental and emotional stress, and lack of love in relations, infertility cases are on the rise. More and more couples are unable to produce children. Moreover, with one in four early pregnancies ending in miscarriage, ayurveda's approach can help preempt any untoward chances of such cases.

The benefits of following ayurvedic principles go far beyond just a trouble-free pregnancy. The traditional medicine science does not just help you to increase fertility with diet, behaviors, and herbal supplements; it also focuses on how to create a truly healthy child.

Factors involved in creating a healthy child
According to ayurveda, preparing for conception can be easily compared to the process of farming. Just like the health of a crop depends on the quality of soil, seed, timing of sowing, and amount of watering it gets, the health of a baby depends on the health of its parents. The shukra is created as part of a long chain of metabolic transformations. It starts with the digestion of food, then goes on to transformation of food to nutrient fluid, blood, muscle, fat, bone, bone marrow, and finally, to shukra tissue.

Healthy shukra tissue, then, according to ayurveda, depends on the health of all the other tissues in the body.

Fresh, organic fruits and vegetables

Dairy proteins, including milk, lassi (buttermilk), and panir (fresh cheese made of milk)
Mung daal (split green beans)
Soaked almonds or soaked walnuts (you can grind them and add them to your vegetables)

Drugs can also affect women's reproductive health. Both over-the-counter and illegal drugs affect the body's natural functions as well as impair nutrition.
Exposure to chemicals and pesticides
Women who are trying to conceive should limit their exposure to pesticides and chemicals as they can hinder your chances of getting pregnant.
Stress can have a major impact on women's fertility. The importance of a positive attitude is essential when trying to get pregnant.
Being both overweight and underweight can impair a woman's odds of getting pregnant. If you are underweight, your reproductive system will shut down because of the body's inability to maintain a pregnancy. On the other hand, being overweight or obese reduces a woman's chances of getting pregnant.

Shitli paranayama

Shitli pranayama is highly beneficial for alleviating the effects of excess body heat. During this yogic exercise the air entering through the moist tongue gets cooled and reduces the temperature of the blood in the lungs.

When the air is exhaled, the hot air carries away the heat bringing down body temperature.
Sit in a comfortable cross-legged posture with a straight back, keeping the palms on your knees.
Extend the tongue and roll up each side to make a channel resembling a bird's beak.
Suck the air through this opening and fill the lungs completely.
The pressures on the diaphragm should extend down to the navel.
Now pull the tongue inside and close the mouth.
Hold your breath for a while and exhale gradually through the nostrils.
Continue this practice from one to five minutes.
This exercise is ideal for summer. Shitali pranayama is effective in quenching thirst and cooling down the body. It instills relaxation and peacefulness in the mind and body.

Hair is a vital parameter of external beauty. Everybody is concerned about its appearance and its disorders. Ayurveda has specific treatments for maintaining healthy and beautiful hair free from problems. The health of hair depends on the proper functioning of the dhatus or the tissues. The nutrient plasma produced from the digestion of food nourishes the dhatus; so healthy nutrient plasma will produce healthy hair. Poor diet, illness, lack of proper hygiene, and nutritional deficiencies can affect the hair and cause various problems.

A number of factors such as age, diet, season, climate, pollution, stress and anxiety affect the health of your hair and scalp. Following an ayurvedic diet is always the first step to healthy and attractive hair. Another important factor is how you wash your hair.

Here are some pointers to keep your hair looking great and healthy.

Eat lots of leafy green vegetables, fresh fruits, nuts and sprouts.
Avoid all caffeinated drinks, very spicy, fried and greasy food.
Ensure regular bowel movements.
Drink plenty of water and eat plenty of raw fruits and vegetables - it is the best way to achieve healthy hair.
Care and hygiene
Regular cleansing and brushing is very important. Brushing stimulates the sebaceous glands that produce natural oil, which is responsible for hair luster.

It is especially beneficial for dry hair as the increased circulation facilitates production of natural oil thus restoring lost lustre. Oil massage also relaxes the body and mind.

Winter care
Avoid shampooing too often in winters as this removes the vital natural oils.
Oil massage is highly recommended to protect hair from the winter dryness.
Conditioners must also be used more frequently to maintain moisture levels.

Summer care
Hair needs to be washed more frequently in summer to cleanse it of the excessive dirt, pollution and sweat produced in summer.
Scalp hygiene is all the more important in summers.
Henna may be used to remove the extra oil from the hair and scalp. It also has a cooling effect on the scalp.

Remedial tips
Hair loss
The oil from amla (indian gooseberry), prepared by boiling dry pieces of amla in coconut oil, is a hair tonic for enriching hair growth and preventing hair loss.
Soak two tablespoons of fenugreek (methi) seeds overnight in water. Grind the softened seeds into a fine paste in the morning and apply over the scalp. Leave for half an hour and then wash thoroughly. This is an effective remedy for dandruff.
Hair nourishment
Boil a handful of fresh neem or margosa leaves. Strain and cool this infusion, and wash your hair with it. Try this twice a week for healthy and nourished hair.
Hair lice
Maintain scalp hygiene, cleansing it regularly. Massage the scalp twice or thrice a week with onion juice. Leave on for two hours before washing it off. If available, regularly massage scalp with neem oil.

Arthritis is one of the most common ailment for which ayurvedic help is being sought these days.

Disease process in arthritis:

According to ayurveda mostly pains are caused by the aggravation of vata (air) dosha. Arthritis is a condition which is caused by accumulation of ama and aggravation of vata. (ama is a toxic by-product of improper digestion) this ama circulates in the whole body and deposits or gets collected at the sites which are weaker. When it deposits in the joints and at the same time there is aggravation of vata, it results in a disease called amavata. This amavata is arthritis.

As described above ama and vata are the main causes, so efforts should be made to digest ama and to reduce the vata. The digestion should be improved so that no further ama is produced. Efforts should be made to relieve the pain and inflammation. This is the line of treatment according to ayurveda.

Fasting is very beneficial for digesting the ama. The fasting be complete or partial depending on the strength of the person, season and place. Two tea spoons of lemon juice mixed in 250 ml. Of warm water and a tea spoon of honey is good to take twice a day -morning and evening.

Body massage with sesame or mustard oil helps to reduce the vata and thus reduce the pain. The joints affected by pain can be massaged for longer time.
Light exercise is useful but you must know your limits: as a general rule if any exercise, including walking, causes pain after one hour, you have crossed your limit.
Liberal intake of orange juice or sweet lime juice or vitamin c enhances the efficacy of any anti rheumatic drug, since vitamin c can reduce skeletal pain.

Guggul is a very helpful herb for curing arthritis. If available it can be taken in one to 3 gm dose twice a day after meals with warm water.

Contra-indications: not recommended for people with kidney disease or acute rashes.

Diet and regimen for arthritis:

Foods which are easily digestible and do not make wind or gas are good. Vegetable juices and soups are good. Juices of carrot, beat root and cucumber mixed together is also beneficial. Green salad with a dressing of lemon juice and a little salt is also good. Fruits like apples, oranges, grapes and papaya can be taken. Cooked vegetables like squash, zucchini and pumpkin are good.

Cooking with spices like cumin, coriander, ginger, asafetida, garlic, fennel and turmeric is also helps a lot. Avoid eating hot, spicy and fried foods, sweets, wind forming foods like cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, broccoli, okra and potatoes should be prohibited. Avoid taking too much tea, coffee, alcohol, white sugar, yogurt, chocolate and cocoa, excessive smoking.

Sleeping during day time, staying up late in the night and mental tensions like worry, anxiety, fear, stress and grief etc, should be given up. Regular physical exercise and every day massage with oil, once or twice a week, should form an important part of life style.

The main problem with weight gain is that, not only does it affect the confidence and mental stability of the obese person (making him easy target to mockery), overweight and obesity lays foundation of many other serious diseases. Weight loss in ayurvedic dosha types

According to Ayurveda philosophy, Kapha type of individual (having more of water and earth in their constitution) is more likely to gain weight easily. Although, the Vata types having more of air and ether, would generally be skinny and devoid of much fat. The fire types or Pitta dosha personalities who are generally gifted with proportional body weight, could be gaining weight just in case they lose their balance.

In the case of weight gain or obesity, it is believed that the Kapha dosha gets accumulated which further slows down the fat metabolism and leads to the disease of obesity. Therefore, Ayurveda believes that of the three basic dosha types, those people who have more of Kapha dosha in their system generally have a low Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and gain weight easily. Thus, for weight loss, the Kapha types need to be more strict and careful with themselves both in the terms of diet intake and undertaking exercise routine.
