A fungal infection, Sporotrichosis is caused by the Sporothrix schenckii fungus that thrives on soil, plants, wood and hay. It enters the system through cuts in the skin and fungus spore inhalation. A small red bump appears at the infected site, which grows in size to form an open wound. The disease is treated by administering a medicine called Itraconazole for 90-180 days.
