Mucopolysaccharidoses are a kind of metabolic disorder that occur in individuals whose bodies are either unable to produce certain enzymes required to break down sugar molecules, or produce faulty enzymes that do not work. The disease results in progressive cell deterioration that affects the mental and physical development of patients. There is currently no cure available for this disease. Treatment involves physical therapy to improve the patient's quality of life.
