Leishmaniasis is an infectious disease caused due to the bite of a female sand-fly. Either the skin and the mucous membrane or the entire body can get infected by the bite of this sand-fly. While it would take only a few days for the symptoms like skin sores to appear if the skin is affected, it can take 2 to 8 months for the symptoms to appear if the whole body is affected. Breathing difficulties, skin sores, stuffy nose, ulcers, thinning of hair, diarrhea, fever, weight loss and swallowing difficulties are the symptoms associated with Leishmaniasis.
