The presence of enzymes which help in metabolizing galactose, in either negligible amounts or its total absence result in this condition. The most common symptoms of galactosemia are lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea and jaundice. A galactosemia test taken on blood or urine samples help in diagnosing this condition.
