Enterobiasis commonly known as pinworm infection or seatworm infection, generally affects children. It is highly contagious and can quickly affect all the children belonging to one classroom. It is a parasitic infestation that results because of swallowing or inhaling pinworm eggs. Some of the symptoms of this infection are itching in the anal region, restlessness and lack of sleep. In case of little girls it may also cause swelling of the fallopian tubes. A severe case of Enterobiasis may also lead to appendicitis. One can prevent Enterobiasis by maintaining good personal hygiene and ensuring that they wash their hands and clean their nails often.
HOW IS ENTEROBIASIS DIAGNOSED?
Among pinworms, females measure about 10mm and males measure about 4-5mm.
