Mutation in the gene, causes a dysfunctional immune system. This condition is known as Common Variable Immunodeficiency. A weak immune system results due to a reduction in the levels of a specific protein in the blood. The root cause of this condition is unknown. However it is hypothesized that a complex interaction between various environmental and genetic factors, leads to this condition. A person suffering from this condition, has higher chances of recurrent infections and digestive, blood and cancer disorders.
