Coccidioidomycosis is a common viral infection which is caused by a fungus, generally born and bred in the soil. The fungus is said to be originated in the San Joaquin Valley of California, United States. This condition is mostly found among the people living in rural areas where farming is the main occupation, especially if the areas are arid and semi- arid in nature. The infection is highly contagious because it spreads through the air and the person's breathing the contaminated air are infected by the disease. Diagnosis of this condition is very difficult because it does not have any pre-defined symptoms as such.
HOW IS COCCIDIOIDOMYCOSIS DIAGNOSED?
The disease is also known as valley fever in colloquial language and it is not contagious from person to person.
