Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is an inherited neurological disorder that damages the nerves in your arms and legs. The typical symptom of this disease includes weakness of the foot and the lower leg muscles. Gradually it starts affecting your hands and arms as well. It also causes high foot arch and hammertoes. CMT is triggered by genetic mutations that results in damage to the nerves.
HOW IS CHARCOT-MARIE-TOOTH DISEASE DIAGNOSED?
There is no cure for this disease but the pain experienced can be controlled by physical therapy, occupational therapy or certain orthopedic devices.
