Chancroids are a type of bacteria that gets transmitted through sexual contact. It causes painful sores on the genitals. Men may notice this small bumps which changes into an open sore. Women may develop more red bumps in the thighs, anus or on the labia. People with chancroids are at a greater risk of developing HIV. Antibiotics can be prescribed to kill the bacteria but if the condition is severe a surgery might be required to make a large incision in lymph nodes to reduce the swelling. Practicing safe sex using condoms can prevent chancroids from spreading.
