Benefits of yoga for kidney

Proper functioning of the kidney is very essential for any individual. There are some vital functions which are performed by kidneys like purification of blood by eliminating the waste, maintaining the blood pressure level in the body, hormone secretion, and supporting proper functioning of the urinary system. The functions which kidneys perform clearly indicate the importance of a healthy kidney for an individual.

If an individual who is suffering from a kidney disorder and is looking for a natural and promising solution to keep the kidneys healthy then the answer is yoga. There are asanas in yoga that can provide assistance in relaxation. Management of water retention can also be achieved through yoga. A body that is completely relaxed and rested performs its function in a much better way like stabilizing the heartbeat and regulation of water in the body. Yoga not only controls the stress of the body and mind but it is also providing assistance is keeping the internal organs healthy. There are asanas in yoga which facilitate the cleaning of the body by flushing out the toxins. Proper blood circulation to several parts of the body is ensured through yoga. Given below are some of the asanas in yoga which help in the alleviation of problems associated with kidney disorders.

Seated Forward Bend

Seated Forward Bend- It helps in stimulating the kidneys, lungs, ovaries and uterus and is extremely beneficial for stress and depression. Start with a sitting position with your legs stretched out in front of you. Then breathe in and bend forward from your hips with your hands stretched out in front. Your hands should touch the toes of your feet. Slowly exhale and hold the position for a minute while breathing normally. Gently return to the original position.

Bow Pose

Bow Pose- It boosts the function of the kidneys and prevents the development of kidney problems. Start with lying on your stomach or belly and keep your hands by your side. Then bend your legs from the knees and take your hands backward so that you are able to hold your feet. Slowly raise your chest from the ground while taking a deep breath. Tilt your head and try to look up. Hold the position for a few seconds while taking deep breaths. Gently return to the original position.

Boat Pose

Boat Pose- It helps in opening up the abdomen specially the liver and kidneys. Therefore, leads to healthy kidneys. Start with a sitting position with your legs stretched out in front of you. Then raise your legs from the ground keeping them straight at 45 degree angle. Take your hands and hold your feet or leg for support and stability. Stay in the position for a minute and then return slowly to original position.

Sitting Half Spinal Twist

Sitting half spinal twist- This asana flushes out toxins from the blood and stimulates the kidneys. As you release the twist, fresh blood is supplied to your kidneys. Start with a sitting position with your legs stretched out in front you. Take your left leg and bend it from your knee placing them beside your right hip. Your right leg should be bended flat on the ground. Take your right hand and use it to hold your left leg while your left hand stays beside you with palms touching the ground. Twist your upper body while keeping your spine erect, Hold the position for a minute.

Kidney is a vital organ and is of utmost importance for an individual. Apart from yoga, it is essential that a healthy and nutritional diet is consumed. There are some food products that helps in providing relief from the symptoms of kidney disorders. Incorporating cauliflower in the diet is a healthy option. Cauliflower is rich in vitamin k, vitamin c and indoles. Including foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids like sea bass is an incredibly beneficial as it reduces the risk of cognitive decline.

Eating egg whites provides protein which is kidney-friendly. Turnip is another vegetable that should be consumed. The vegetable is highly nutritious as well as a rich source of vitamin b-6, magnesium, calcium, and vitamin c. It is also important to take into account sodium, potassium and phosphorus value. If a person is under medication for kidney disorder, then it must be taken regularly.
