Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. You have just mentioned about T1 DM & not in control. But there are no other necessary details to suggest or guide. So please come back with following details: fasting, PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, dosage of insulin (units, type& number of times per day), present diet, extent of daily exercise, weight & height, plus any other related condition. By looking at those details, I will be able to suggest something. Thanks.

Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
T1 DM is an autoimmune disease, where there are antibodies seen againstbeta cells of pancreas, which destroy those cells. This leads to lack of insulin and later total absence of it. This disease usually sets in early life. These patients have to depend on Insulin injections for glucose control as well as for their daily metabolic needs. Thanks.

Mr. Lybrate-user, the reasons why diabetes develops are multiple. In t1 diabetes there a complete loss of insulin secreting beta cells, due to production of antibodies. T1 is an auto immune disease. T2 is occuring either due to lack of insulin or increase resistance to its action. It is a familial disease, spreads in families. Other contributing factors are over weight or obesity, inactivity, junk foods, aerated sweetened drinks.
