For DM diet follow 40% complex carbs, and 35% proteins and 25% fats in your diet. It means that do not eat white based stuff like white maida, white rice, noodles, sugar, pizzas, buns etc. Use multigrain, use millets, brown rice etc. Make sure your every meal has proteins + salads. To start with avoid simple sugars as far as possible like sugar, jaggery, honey, sweets, candies, chocolates, cold drinks etc. 'Eat Out' less, avoid junk and have good quantity of fresh foods which are not processed like fruits, vegetables, soups, salads, nuts, low fat milk, curd etc. Gradually, focus on higher protein intake, lower fat and restrict carbohydrates to high fibre foods only. Since you have hypothyroidism it is absolutely essential to maintain TSH around 3 to 4 mU/L.At that level person remains free from all the symptoms related to that condition. Even the efforts to reduce weight become fruitful only if TSH is well controlled. So please first achieve that and come back. Thanks.

For weight loss there is no one food that will do good/miracle or bad. Have balanced diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milletes, and stay hydrated. Avoid refined food items (bakery, maida) ,fried, greesy, salty and sugary food items. Ensure there is some kind of protein in each meal like milk/milk product, soy, tofu, fish, chicken, eggs.
Exercise atleast 5 days /week will give good results.
