Can Vampire Face Lift Really Make You Look Younger?

Ever wondered how some celebrities never seem to age and look the same? Perhaps you began admiring them about a decade ago and you have started to look older and tired, but not them? When they smile, their skin and eyes have the same glow even today? Well, it is true that celebrities have access to a whole lot of cosmetic products, but the new thing doing the rounds is within them. Yes, it is their own blood, and hence the name 'vampire facelift' for the beauty treatment they undergo.

How it works: As we all know, the blood is what carries all the vital nutrients to all parts of the body. It has 3 main components in a fluid medium called the plasma. The 3 components are the red blood cells (giving it the red color), the white blood cells (the infection fighting ones), and the platelets (which contain clotting and growth factors). The vampire facelift uses the plasma of a person to produce a greater concentration of growth factors for the face. Blood is drawn from the person, centrifuged to remove the 3 cell types, and the remaining plasma-rich fluid (PRF) is injected into specific areas on the face depending on what the person wants to change hollow cheeks, wrinkles, aged graying skin, etc.

PRF was earlier used for injured people, especially athletes, to help them heal faster by providing a greater amount of growth factors and stem cells. However, cosmetic surgeons realized this could be used to improve facial appearance and consequently the vampire facelift became popular. It restores shape, improves skin tone and texture, rejuvenates the skin and promotes production of younger looking skin.

What is done:

  1. The patient and the surgeon have a detailed discussion on what the concerns are. There are various parameters which define a beautiful face including ratio of width of forehead to width of the lips. All these are considered and a decision is made as to what would produce the best appearance for the person.
  2. Dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid may be used in some areas if required, to create beautiful shapes.
  3. Then, the PRF is extracted from the patient’s blood (giving it the name Vampire Facelift) to literally lift up areas of the face by injecting the multipotent stem cells into specific areas of the face.
  4. The new tissue could be a combination of collagen (for improved elasticity), fatty tissue (for smoothness), and younger blood vessels (for younger, glowing skin).

This facelift became popular about two decades ago and has many advocates like Kim Kardashian. It should be done 3 times with a break of 4 weeks in between, followed by an annual maintenance schedule. Sounds magical? Talk to your cosmetic surgeon to know more.

The Vampire Face Lift - Understanding The Procedure!

We all crave for that eternally youthful looking face when we look into the mirror. We all wonder how some celebrities never seem to age at all. The glow and skin does not seem to age at all, and seeing them, the question we have is what is the magic here? The answer lies within themselves, which is their own blood. Using the own blood to maintain youthful looks is one of the most recent techniques in anti-ageing, and this is known as vampire facelift.

How does it work?

  1. The blood is the carrier and supplier of vital nutrients to the entire body. It carries the vital nutrients in a fluid medium called the plasma.
  2. In addition to the nutrients, it also has what are called blood cells (red and white) and growth factors which are essential for regulating growth. By separating out the various components, a high concentration of the growth factors is extracted.
  3. This plasma-rich fluid (PRF) is then injected into specific parts of the face (generally the face, but other parts can also be treated). So, whether a person has sinking eyes or hollow cheeks, they can be managed

Origin and Popularity
This technique was originally used in injured athletes with torn ligaments and joints. By providing a rich supply of nutrients and growth factors, it helps in quicker healing, restoring shape, improving tone, and overall rejuvenation of the injured area. Though not actually an injury, the changes that the face goes through are a part of degeneration with age. Cosmetic surgeons believed the same could be extended to treat the age changes in the face, and so vampire facelift gained popularity.

Procedure:

  1. The first step is to find yourself a well-trained and experienced surgeon
  2. A thorough discussion of how the procedure will happen and what to expect after the procedure. Expectations should be realistically set for both the surgeon and the patient.
  3. What the surgeon can do and what the patient wants should be aligned to achieve the outcomes.
  4. Using historic and current records of the patient (pictures mostly) and using other standard measurements, the desirable outcomes are set down.
  5. In the case of hollow cheeks or under-eye areas, dermal fillers (usually of hyaluronic acid) may be used to create some fullness.
  6. The blood is then extracted and centrifuged to separate the plasma-rich fluid
  7. This is then injected into various predetermined areas of the skin to do the corrections.
  8. This could include younger glowing skin, improved fullness, improved firmness of the skin, etc.
  9. The first session requires about 3 sittings with repeat sessions in about 4 weeks.
  10. It can be repeated annually if required.

What is Vampire Face-lift?

Vampire facelift is the one of the most advanced facial treatment available. This treatment gives the face a better appearance. If you go for the simple cosmetic surgery, it will only remove excess skin from your face and create a younger look. However, the vampire facelift will give you more than this. If you have the imperfect shape of any parts of your face, Vampire face life can be the solution.

Vampire facelift is non-surgical facelift procedures and due to its result, it is getting very popular. This procedure involves extracting blood from your arm and then spinning the blood sample in a centrifuge to separate the platelets. The blood cells are then re-injected into the skin with a very fine needle and only injected into the areas that need to get treatment. These injections are performed in conjunction with fat injections to create a smooth, rounder, and plumper appearance.

Vampire facelift is much more advanced as compared to other procedure of rejuvenating your face. It has 3-way advantages:

  • Improvement in skin texture and tone
  • Restoration of facial shape
  • Growing out new and younger tissue
  • Give you refreshing look

The Vampire Facelift - What Should You Know?

There are many cosmetic procedures that are accessible to patients who need to surgically reposition the facial tissues that have loosened as one ages. One of them is the Vampire Facelift which uses infusions of the patient's own blood through an element known as Selphyl.

The Vampire Facelift, or Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), includes extracting spoons of a patient's blood from their arm and spinning it in a rotator to isolate the plasma - the liquid part - from the red and white platelets.

The concentrated plasma, which is rich in platelets, is then infused into the face. A few experts pump it with dermal fillers to further lift up the loosened zones, for example, under the eye. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Blood from the arm is extracted, which is then spun in a rotator to isolate the platelets.

  2. The platelets are then re-infused into the skin with a fine needle and just infused into the areas that need be lifted or rejuvenated.

  3. These infusions include a little fat as well, to make a smooth, rounder and plumper appearance.

  4. During the Vampire facelift procedure, Hyaluronic corrosive (HA) fillers are utilised which help in lifting the skin from the bone to give your skin a decent shape with a younger look.

  5. Again this HA filler would pursue the wrinkle that is connected with your face and make an alternate shape of the face which might look different from the original one.

Some of the advantages of this facelift are:

  1. Change in skin surface and tone.

  2. Reclamation of facial shape.

  3. Growing new and younger tissues.

  4. Superior option to neurotoxin (Botox) and different infusions.

  5. Infusion of the blood causes no bruising, as it is a thin, watery liquid.

  6. No allergy testing is required as the substance is the individual's blood.

However, there are certain disadvantages as well. These are as follows:

  • Most plastic surgeons do not believe in the efficacy of this procedure.

  • Uncertainty whether Selphyl has been FDA approved for facial revival.

  • There will be some redness in the rejuvenated area.

  • The Vampire Facelift takes a few weeks to bring about results.

  • The disadvantage with HA fillers is the way it will make your eyes hurt.

The infusions are not just used to smoothen the wrinkles on the face. It can likewise be utilised on different parts and areas of the body with diminished volume or wrinkles. The technology that is behind the Vampire Facelift is not new. Doctors have been utilising one's own plasma to help other procedures like bone mending after spinal wounds and to recover delicate tissues after plastic surgery for a long time. Like any sort of medicinal technique, it is important to conduct appropriate research to check whether it is ideal and suitable for your body and skin type. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist and ask a free question.

PRP For Face /Vampire Facial

Every person, especially women, want to maintain a youthful skin, sans the wrinkles, fine lines and the other signs of skin aging. As much as we want, the skin aging is an inevitable phenomenon that will hit you at some point or the other. There are many skin surgeries and therapies available that help in skin upliftment and rejuvenation. One such nonsurgical and natural therapy that many people have embraced to give their skin a much-needed boost is the Vampire Facial, also known as the Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy for the face.

The Vampire facial has garnered much attention over the past few years. There are many renowned celebrities and personalities worldwide who have opted for the Vampire Facial.
Vampire Facial derives its name from the fact that the procedure involves the use of one's blood for the overall facial rejuvenation.

The Vampire Facial is simple and involves the use of platelets rich plasma to achieve the desired result. The basic steps involved in the procedure include:

  1. The vampire facial commences with the collection of blood (usually from the arm).
  2. The next step involves centrifugation of the collected blood (approximately high spin for 10 minutes) to separate the platelets rich plasma from the rest of the blood components.
  3. To minimize the pain, an anesthetic cream is usually applied all over the face.
  4. The platelets rich plasma is then gently and carefully injected into the face at multiple spots (use of multiple small injections) strategically to ensure maximum skin renewal and rejuvenation (through increased collagen formation that accelerates the skin healing to a great extent).

From fine lines to dark circles to smile lines, Vampire Facial takes care of every aspect, improving the skin texture, adding an aura to your already pleasing personality. The number of sessions is often determined by the age of the person concerned.

  1. For young adults (in their late 20's or early 30's), a single session may be enough to produce the desired results.
  2. For middle aged people (after 40 years), the sessions are often 3, with a time gap of 4-6 weeks.

Who should avoid the Vampire Facial?

  • The Vampire Facial may be best left avoided for people dealing with an unstable blood pressure, a condition medically known as Haemodynamic instability.
  • Pregnant as well as lactating women should also refrain from this procedure.
  • In addition to these, people having a low platelet count (Critical Thrombocytopenia), chronic infections and septicemia should also avoid Vampire Facial or PRP of the face.

After a Vampire Facial, a person should follow a healthy skin care routine for better results. Keep the skin well hydrated and moisturized as much as you can. Never leave the house without applying a good SPF sunscreen.

Lower Face Lift - When Should You Go For It?

Lower Face Lift - When Should You Go For It?

With age, the skin loses its elasticity and firmness, causing sagging skin and deep folds. The facelift, as the name suggests, give a lift to the ageing face so that a youthful appearance is restored.
The lower one-third of the face, given the lesser number of bones, is a lot more prone to ageing changes. There are many people with the corners of the lips drooping, double chin, folds from the nose to the lips losing their definition, skin sagging, etc. These can be corrected by a trained, well-experienced surgeon.

The following are some of the main issues which can be corrected with a lower facelift surgery.

  1. Gravity: Though not noticeable at all, the earth’s gravity plays a major role in the ageing part. Especially in the lower half of the face, there is no underlying bone except the mandible. This causes the muscles and tissues to gravitate downwards, producing an aged appearance with a double chin and undefined neck/head interface. The rounded facial appearance becomes elongated gradually with age, which can be restored with a lower facelift.
  2. Drooping mouth: With age, the muscles in the lower face droop and produce an appearance with corners of the mouth drooping. The lips lose their normal curvature and become thin and are usually downward aligned, giving a grumpy appearance.
  3. Double chin: There is gradual laxity that builds in the muscles of the chin and neck, forcing people to wear turtlenecks to avoid the sagging skin and double chin.

These are some of the common indications for a lower facelift. There are different types of lower facelift. The same have been listed below.

  1. S-facelift: A small, S-shaped incision is made beginning in the front of the area, and through this, the underlying structures are tightened and excess skin is trimmed down.
  2. SMAS facelift: This incision begins around the temples, is hidden under the hairline and works to remove fatty tissue and firming up the connective tissue. This is a more elaborate process than the S-facelift.

Both these can be clubbed with a neck liposuction where excess fat is removed from the neck area to produce far improved results.

Suitable candidates: People in relatively good health with an adequate elasticity of the skin around the face and neck. Laxity around the jawline, drooping corners around the mouth, excess fat in the neck and chin area are good candidates for lower facelift surgeries.

While a lower facelift can help improve your appearance, it is extremely important to place yourself in the hands of a competent, well-experienced surgeon. These are intricate procedures and can go if not done by an experienced person. Choose someone you are sure of and see yourself lose some years.
