Tympanoplasty surgery should be done for hole in ear drum (tympanic membrane rupture) other wise it will cause acute or chronic ear infections as you said white discharge is coming out from ear. Avoid water going into ear while bathing, take precautions as it cause infection.

Hi lybrate-user. If it's a small hole in the drum, we could address it by minimally invasive procedure called fast plug myringoplasty.
If the hole is little bigger, then we need to do a procedure called tympanoplasty.

If there is perforation and associated hearing loss then surgery (tympanoplasty) is recommended choice. Before surgery ear should be dry and noninfected. Get an audiometry test done prior and send the report.
