Dear user, I can understand. You must understand the difference between ALCOHOL ADDICTION and abuse. You can definitely quit alcohol in one go. Just stop it and swear not to drink again. Engage yourself in games and other engaging activities during evenings or when you feel the urge. Just a week, your habit should change. There are many other methods, which you can see through internet. The best method is what I suggested. Please try it without fail. Take care.

Hello, it depends on how much alcohol he consumes daily and for how long he has been having this amount. There is definitely a possibility of not having a withdrawal if the person is not heavily dependent on alcohol.
Addressing your second issue - with high motivation quitting is possible but usually people tend to restart. The overall psychiatric treatment for alcohol includes medicine as well as counseling to increase motivation to keep the person away from alcohol.

Taking one quarter of liquor daily may prove harmful to your health. If you are healthy now, doesn't mean that you will stay like this if you continue drinking in this manner. I would suggest no drink at all or maximum 2quarter per week .to be on the safe side.
