Till they are not troublesome, you may safely disregard them. If producing minor symptoms like a bad breath, or a prickly feeling, you may apply pressure adjacent to them with a blunt object like the handle of your tooth brush or a wooden ice-cream stick, now and then.
Surgery is the last option, not generally suggested by the surgeon but opted by the patient if suffering in different ways.

Tonsilloliths or tonsil stones are calcifications that form in the crypts of the palatal tonsils. They are also known to form in the throat and on the roof of the mouth. Tonsils are filled with crevices where bacteria and other materials, including dead cells and mucus, can become trapped.
Many require no treatment. Larger ones can be removed by a doctor.

I am sorry to hear about your concern but will be happy to assist you.
Unfortunately, there are loads of nooks and crannies for bacteria, germs, and debris to hide in, and that's how you get tonsil stones. When the bacteria and debris builds up, it forms tonsil stones in the crevices. The calcified stones can grow and multiply.
Let's connect over a call so that we can discuss your concern in details and make a treatment plan for you.

Yes tonsil infections with white plaque like patches on them colloquially called as tonsil stones can cause putrid or poop like smell. This is due to the the bacterial action on food remnants. If you are not having any fever or throat pain you can try managing the condition with any antibacterial mouth gargle like povidone iodine ...more

The best option is to meet an ENTSurgeon equipped with LASERs in your city as LASER assisted Tonsillar Ablation is the best option where about 2 mm thickness of the tonsillar surface is vapourised by the LASER. This will render the Tonsillar Crypt shallow so food cannot be trapped in it causing the tonsillolith. Another benefit is that the foul-smelling bacteria that reside on the surface of the tonsil will also be destroyed during this procedure, so you can also say goodbye to bad breath!
