Thigh Liposuction: Treatment, Cost and Side Effects

Last Updated: Jan 07, 2023

What is the Thigh Liposuction?

The shape of the thighs in women has got a lot to do with DNA, so the weight that accumulates around the thighs with aging is difficult to lose even with extensive exercising. Aging women tend to develop more fat around the buttocks and the lower body because the skin eventually loses elasticity. However, liposuction is a surgical method that does a lot to make the thighs slender. This is a treatment that not only has a positive effect on the physiology of the person concerned; it also has a positive psychological impact on the woman.

A woman who is not happy with the extra fat around the thighs can go for liposuction. It boosts the confidence as well as brings about body positivity in the woman. There are various types of liposuction to treat the fat around different regions of the thighs. For example, liposuction can be done on the hips and the outer thighs; the front of the thighs, the back of the thighs, as well as the inner thigh region can be contoured and reshaped through liposuction. The surgery is not very difficult to perform. So the patient can get back to leading a normal life shortly post surgery.

How is the Thigh Liposuction treatment done?

The duration of the surgery depends on the amount of fat that is to be removed from the thighs. In most cases the surgery takes a few hours and the patient does not have to stay overnight post surgery. However, in some cases the patient might have to stay overnight.

In the beginning of the surgery the patient is at first anesthetized. The kind of anesthesia that is required also depends upon the amount of fat that is to be removed. It can be either local anesthesia or complete anesthesia. A device made of stainless steel that is called a cannula is attached to the suction apparatus. After this the surgeon makes small cuts in which, the cannula is inserted in the fatty areas. Then using the suction device the fat is sucked out. A large syringe can also be used. There are two types of liposuction. One is Tumescent liposuction where a solution is inserted in the fatty area so that the blood vessels become expanded, thereby making the surgery easy. It also acts as a good pain killer and prevents blood loss. Ultrasound liposuction is another process where the fat is first dissolved and after that it is sucked out with the help of suction pressure.
