Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in your joints. The main symptoms are joint pain and swelling. It mainly initiate by affecting small joints like finger joints of hand and feet then ankle, wrist, elbow and knees. If untreated Joints can become loose, unstable, painful and lose their mobility. Joint deformity can also occur.

If there are acute symptoms of RA like pain,swelling in the joints then limit carbohydrates(wheat,bread etc) and eat more of fruits and vegetables.Also take physiotherapy treatment to keep the joints mobile by exercising to maintain the range of motion.Can take heat/cold treatment as advised by the therapists.Also take omega 3 either in the form of supplements or fatty fish.

Regards Lybrate user. Stiffness and pain in multiple joints are classical presentation in rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis affects many structures like muscles, tendons (structures that connect muscles with bone), ligaments (structures that pass over joints) etc. Stiffness in these structures & pain may occur. Madam it is necessary to achieve TSH level around 3 to 4 mU/L, to be free from symptoms of hypothyroidism. Only then one can try and reduce the weight. With a BMI of 33.62 kgs/Sq meter, you are close to being in grade 2 obesity. This can lead to diabetes. You have an excess of 26 kgs. Please reduce that, which will help in free from diabetes. Thanks.

Keep active & maintain normal range of movements.You may
Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it.
Use no pillow under the head.
