Hi, Lybrate user, has he been examined for kidneys function test and liver function test to assess the cause of swelling legs with any sort of urinary obstruction. Till then underlying, homoeopathic medicine can be administered:@ berberis vulgaris q-10 drops, thrice. Tk, care.

Kindly check him for any heart; lungs;liver and kidney problems ; hhypertension; diabetes etc --- if all check-up is ok --let him keep legs up --especially during sleep ; put thick sox when sitting and walking and give plenty of vegetable and fruits fresh juice and salads.

It can be because of muscle cramp, muscle strain, achilles tendonitis, sciatica, diabetic peripheral neuropathy etc. For calf pain caused by overuse or mild-to-moderate trauma, you can try this:
1.r.i.c.e. (rest, ice, compression, and elevation). Icing and elevating the leg are two common principles of r.i.c.e. That are useful for calf pain. Try elevating your leg at or above the level of your heart to get swelling to decrease. Applying an ice pack in 20-minute intervals may also help.
