Yes it seems to be neuropathy. You must consult your doc. Go for further investigations, if required. Blood sugar levels should be controlled. Also you should give her some ayurveda supplements as they have a very positive response in diabetic neuropathy.

Yes insulin causes weight gain.
Metformin causes b12 deficiency and gi disturbances. You can take b12 supplement tab.
Diet & exercise is always a critical part in controlling diabetes.

Yes you can take protein supplements. However please be careful with your sugar readings before and after your exercise. I would suggest take medically approved proteins in your case like Abbott (Ensure, Danone (Protein X, British Biologicals (D Protin, Azzura. Do read the label to check the protein per scoop. You can take it as per your requirements.

For constipation I will suggest you to eat food with high fiber content like green leafy vegetables and can also eat bananas at bedtime as it is effective as a laxative and if necessary take 10 ml of syp cremaffin at night and In a known case of diabetic we need to control sugar levels with medication , aerobic exercise and following a diabetic diet and few tips on diet say no to maida items like toast , khaari ,naan ,white bread . can drink tea but without sugar say no to Buffalo milk and...more
